Stranger Things: 10 Memes That Sum Up The Kids

WARNING! Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season Four!

Stranger Things season Four is now out in full for everyone to watch and enjoy. The global phenomenon has been praised for its characters, mainly the ensemble that makes up the Hawkins crew. Although some of the kids have moved away, (Eleven and Will moved to California), the kids are still the heart of the show, and what makes the show as funny, and emotional as it is.

Each member of the Hawkin’s gang has gone through major character transformations in their arcs, from Will being sent to the Upside Down, to Max almost dying at the hands of Vecna, viewers have been left shocked and making memes as a result.

Stressed Dustin

Dustin Henderson always seems to be stressed out, but to be fair, given where he lives, that’s justified. Hawkins is most definitely cursed and Dustin’s reactions to many things are more than understandable.

Dustin also seems to be the first to figure out the supernatural happenings in every season, hence his stress levels being through the roof. Although these screencaps are from season Two, Dustin tends to react the same to every situation, something viewers have found incredibly relatable.

Max And Lucas

There are several couples throughout, and friendships that no one saw coming in Stranger Things, but the relationship between Lucas and Max seems to have fans worked up more than others. Since it was revealed that Max broke up with Lucas ahead of season Four, fans have been rooting for them to get back together.

It was also revealed in season Four that Lucas was most of Max’s happiest memories, and one of the key reasons she was able to escape Vecna. The emotional scenes between these two characters have left viewers in tears, perhaps more so than any other couple scenes.

Eleven’s Progress

When viewers first meet Eleven, little is known about her. She only speaks a few words, and her understanding of the world around her was very limited due to her restricted childhood and treatment from Papa in the secret facility, things that are just some of the saddest things about Eleven.

In season Four, Eleven finally gets to tell Papa how she really feels, and how his unjust treatment of her wasn’t fair. It’s a scene fans have been waiting to see for a long time and it was a scene that didn’t disappoint. Eleven used the skills she was taught to finally tell Papa the truth and fans were so proud of her for it.

Will’s Neck Touching

If there’s one thing that signals something bad is about to happen in Stranger Things, it’s Will’s neck. It’s foreshadowed several dark things in past seasons and often acts as a warning sign for things to come.

Every time Will’s gone to touch his neck after feeling goosebumps, something bad has followed. Viewers have expressed their concern during these scenes, as avid watchers will understand this warning sign. Will touched his neck again at the very end of season Four, which has many fans on edge wondering what is to come in the final season.

Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons and Dragons has always been a central plot point in Stranger Things. The monsters are almost always named after a D&D character and perhaps no one is a bigger fan of the game than Will.

Will and Mike end up arguing over this in the later seasons, in a scene fans remember to be rather painful to watch. Despite this, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas join the school’s local D&D club after Will moves away, a move made in perfect irony. Will would have been understandably confused and frustrated at this, considering they didn’t want to play with him but are now a part of a club just to play D&D.

Just A Quick Snack

The first season of Stranger Things has several iconic moments, including Eleven’s robbery of the Eggos. The scene is played out in comedic effect, but also a sad reality, showing that Eleven has no concept of society she finds herself in a situation where she just wants food.

Regardless, fans have found this scene in particular relatable and funny. Eleven doesn’t need that many Eggos, much like viewers don’t need as much of a midnight snack as they sometimes grab for themselves. The look on Eleven’s face when she’s caught also adds to the humor, as it’s a relatable one for anyone who’s been caught sneaking a snack will know all too well.

Will In The Upside Down

Will has spent a lot of time in the Upside Down, more so than the rest of the kids. When the show kicks off, it’s the major plot point that runs through season one. Joyce’s iconic Christmas lights alphabet being used to talk to Will in the Upside Down is one of those moments that has gone down in TV history.

Unfortunately, season One isn’t the only season that sees Will spending time in the Upside Down. He seems to be a frequent visitor, having a connection to the Mind Flayer throughout seasons Two and Three, and even foreshadowing something at the end of season Four. It seems the Upside Down isn’t done with Will anytime soon, as hilariously expressed in this meme.

Special Shout Out To Erica

Erica was a new introduction in season Three and has since captivated fans with her sass and humor. As Lucas’ younger sister, she has a lot to prove to the older kids, but they welcome her instantly into their group, even inviting her to their Dungeons & Dragons tournament.

Viewers have fallen in love with her iconic burns and hilarious moments where she’s proven her wit and intelligence time and time again. As the tweet says, she is an icon and thus, proving herself to be a Stranger Things side character with main character energy as she steals every scene she’s in.

Babysitters Club

Steve has somewhat become an official member of the Kids Gang since his character redemption in season Two. Although he’s a few years older, his (slight) immaturity and friendship with everyone, especially his brotherly bond with Dustin, make him an integral part of the team and one reason why Steve had the best character arc in Stranger Things.

He also serves as the babysitter, and given how much trouble these kids get into, someone needs to be looking out for them. Steve has been looking after these kids for years, world-ending incident after world-ending incident, and the kids are very lucky to have him. Yet he does not seem to get enough credit for his work.

Vecna

The kids in Hawkins are never allowed to have a normal summer, it seems. From the Mind Flayer to the introduction of the Upside Down, they are always battling some sort of supernatural demon to try and save their town without almost any of the adults knowing.

It’s no different in season Four. This time they’re battling Vecna while trying to piece together the fractured information they have on this new threat. It seems like they’re not getting a break anytime soon either, with the ominous ending of season Four.
