Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – How To Upgrade/Dismantle Gear

Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – How To Upgrade/Dismantle Gear

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a loot-heavy game, which is why it’s important for the player to be able to upgrade their main weapons and dismantle anything they’re not using for parts. Stranger of Paradise has eight weapon types and a plethora of different armor types for players to use for their party, including greatswords, lances, maces, katanas, shields, and one-handed swords.

On the surface, Stranger of Paradise might seem to have a lot in common with games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring, but it’s actually closer to the Nioh series, which makes sense, as they share a developer. In Stranger of Paradise, the most common reward for completing missions is new pieces of gear that can be equipped by the main character or the NPC party members. It only takes a few missions for the player’s inventory to be absolutely stacked with items, making it difficult to search through the armor and weapons list.

Stranger of Paradise has a new demo that contains the opening hours of the game. This demo reveals some of the basic mechanics of the game, including the functions of the world map. The player might not have a chance to kill Chaos in this demo, but it gives a taster of the full game ahead of its March 18 release. It’s also possible to transfer save data from the demo over to the full version of the game, allowing the player to continue their progress. The demo gives the player access to the Smithy, which is an important part of Stranger of Paradise, as it’s where the player will deal with the gear that they acquire on missions.

How To Use The Smithy In Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins

The cutscenes and missions in Stranger of Paradise are all accessed from the world map, which is the same as the one from the original Final Fantasy on the NES. Once the player gains access to the world map, they can press the shoulder buttons to cycle through menus. In the “Cornelia” menu, the player can access the Smithy. This will bring the player to the menu where weapons and armor can either be upgraded or dismantled. The player can batch select items if they want to dismantle lots of weapons at once, which is a good idea, as they will be given a ton of gear in almost every mission.

It’s wise to keep at least one of each weapon type, as the player cannot switch to a job if they don’t have at least one compatible weapon. If the player wants to master the jobs in Stranger of Paradise, then having weapons to hand will make this process a lot easier. Dismantling weapons will provide the materials needed to upgrade weapons, though some can also be earned as mission rewards. A good early strategy is to focus on two jobs over the course of one mission and make sure go in with a beefed-up weapons for each class.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 18, 2022.
