Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures Animated Series Announced for Disney+

A new Star Wars animated series called Young Jedi Adventures is being developed for Disney+. The streaming service, which launched in late 2019, has been the primary home for the long-running science-fiction franchise since the final film in the Skywalker saga bowed in theaters. Although there are several theatrical projects currently in development, including Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron and an untitled Taika Waititi project, live-action television has been the focus of Star Wars for several years. This includes the popular series The Mandalorian, which introduced fan-favorite character Grogu (also known as Baby Yoda), The Book of Boba Fett, which follows the adventures of the bounty hunter when he returns to Tatooine, and the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premiered yesterday, and follows the titular Jedi as he protects young Luke Skywalker from afar. This week, the Star Wars Celebration event has been taking place in Anaheim, California, and many more upcoming projects from the Star Wars universe have been teased or announced. The upcoming slate of series is now extremely robust, including projects that will follow established Star Wars characters like Ahsoka, Andor, and Lando. The list of projects in the works now also includes the Sith training mystery-thriller The Acolyte, the X-Wing pilot series Rangers of the New Republic, and Skeleton Crew, which stars Jude Law and is being helmed by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts.Related: Why Obi-Wan Kenobi Is So Weak In His Star Wars ShowOn top of everything else, the official Star Wars Twitter account has made the announcement that a brand new series is in development. The series will be an animated show titled Young Jedi Adventures, slated to come to Disney+ and Disney Junior in spring 2023. According to their write-up, it will follow “Younglings studying the ways of the Force” and be set in the High Republic era.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1530311747105525760[/EMBED_TWITTER]Click here to view original post. The High Republic Era is an epoch in Star Wars history that has been described as a golden age for the Jedi. The period takes place between the fall of the Old Republic and the beginning of the Imperial era, in which the original Star Wars trilogy takes place. The era lasted for over 200 years, so the time frame in which the show takes place could be relatively close to the timeline of the Star Wars prequels. It is likely that this particular Star Wars project will take place many years before the rise of Anakin Skywalker, however. The events of the prequels led to a mass slaughter of Jedi and Younglings, which would be an unlikely endpoint for a more lighthearted animated series. From the sound of the announcement, this series will be the most kid-oriented in-universe project that Star Wars has released in some time, so it will likely be insulated from the more complicated dramas of the films.Next: The Star Wars Prequels Redemption Story is Now CompleteSource: Star Wars
