Star Wars: Visions, the animated series that brought the perennial sci-fi franchise to the world of anime, has been renewed for a second season on Disney+. Announced as “Volume 2,” it was also given a release window of spring of 2023. This is just one of the long string of announcements that have been pouring out of this year’s Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim.
Released in September of 2021, the first season of Star Wars: Visions was a reinvigoration of the galaxy far, far away the likes of which had never been seen before in the franchise. Various artists and storytellers came together to add an anthology of nine original tales to the Star Wars mythos. These stories cover the entire span of the galaxy’s timeline, from before the events of the prequel trilogy to years after the events of the sequels. Volume 1 featured a well-known voice cast that included Neil Patrick Harris, Alison Brie, George Takei, and Temuera Morrison.
Today, on the last day of Star Wars Celebration 2022, it was revealed that Star Wars: Visions is indeed coming back for another round of stories. The Star Wars Twitter page later made the announcement official. Check out the post below:

Among the other revelations from this year’s Star Wars convention, fans have been treated to new trailers for Andor season 1, which is releasing in August, and The Bad Batch season 2, which is coming this fall. More upcoming shows were also announced, including the animated series Tales of the Jedi and Young Jedi Adventures, as well as the live-action Skeleton Crew (headed up by Jon Watts and starring Jude Law). Convention-goers also got to see exclusive sneak peeks of The Mandalorian season 3 and the upcoming Ahsoka series, both of which are dropping next year. All of this occurs shortly after the first two episodes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series premiered on Disney+.
It’s currently unknown whether Star Wars: Visions season 2 will continue the stories that began in Volume 1 or introduce more new sagas to the galaxy. Either way, the series has so far served as a celebration of George Lucas’ original 1977 film and is a love letter to what made this franchise so unique in the first place. It transports audiences to mystical, faraway lands and tells tales of brave warriors and heroes. Hopefully, season 2 will keep the tradition going.
