Star Wars Video Shows How Grand Admiral Thrawn Will Return To The Galaxy

Grand Admiral Thrawn’s long-awaited return to the familiar Star Wars galaxy is becoming inevitable in Ahsoka, and this video predicts how he’ll get there. As one of the franchise’s most brilliant villains, Thrawn has had many years in his exile to plan his return to the galaxy – and with just one more episode of Ahsoka left to go, it’s very likely that his plan will be seen through. With the Nightsister Great Mothers aiding him and a rather impressive army of Night Troopers defending him, Thrawn’s odds of escaping Peridea in the Ahsoka finale are high – and Star Wars has already revealed how he’ll make his return.

A video shared by Imperial Cinematic shows the Eye of Sion hyperspace ring making a perfect fit for Thrawn’s Star Destroyer, the Chimaera.

The hyperspace ring builds off its design inspiration from that which the Jedi used for their starfighters during the Clone Wars, making room for the massive vessel to lock into the ring and take it through the intergalactic hyperspace lanes.

Ahsoka Has Already Confirmed This Is How Thrawn Will Return

Hyperspace rings like this haven’t been seen since the era of the Jedi starfighters, and it’s no doubt been foreshadowing Thrawn’s return with the Chimaera ever since it was first shown. The Eye of Sion’s design is perfectly constructed to fit the Imperial Star Destroyer, and aside from needing powerful engines to make the intergalactic jump, there would have been no other reason to create something so massive. Thrawn is also loading up the Chimaera with crates from the Nightsister catacombs on Peridea, which confirms that he plans on taking the ship with him when he heads back to the Star Wars galaxy.

Thrawn will have to succeed in the Ahsoka finale in order for the future stories of The Mandalorian-era to flourish. Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni has already confirmed that Thrawn will be the main villain of his upcoming Mandalorian-era movie, and now that the stars are aligning in this series for Thrawn’s return to happen, it has to be seen through. What’s still a mystery is how Ahsoka and her crew will make their return, as well as how Baylan Skoll and his secret agenda will fit into the greater story. There are a lot of loose ends for Ahsoka‘s finale to tie up, but one thing that’s for certain is Thrawn’s return to an unsuspecting galaxy.

Ahsoka releases new episodes Tuesdays at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET on Disney+.
