Grand Admiral Thrawn has finally made his dynamic return to the Star Wars galaxy following his live-action debut in Ahsoka. However, reforming the Empire will be no simple matter, and this is proven with a new video showing all the enemies the former Imperial leader could possibly face as he prepares for war with the New Republic. As such, the video makes it quite clear that Thrawn will have no shortage of foes in the near future.
Having been exiled on the extragalactic world of Peridea, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) is now back in the known Star Wars galaxy thanks to his dark alliance with the Nightsisters known as the Great Mothers. Presumably setting up a base of operations on the world of Dathomir, it won’t be long before Thrawn begins his work as “Heir to the Empire”. However, a new TikTok video from user .cody66 shows just how many classic and new Star Wars heroes will likely stand in his way:
Coming from both the original trilogy and those introduced in the New Republic era itself, it’s clear that the Grand Admiral has his work cut out for him as he likely attempts to reform the shattered Empire in the years following its breakdown thanks to the events of Return of the Jedi and the definitive Battle of Jakku.
Who Will Actually Face Thrawn In Star Wars’ Future?
As seen in the video, several original trilogy heroes are featured including Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. That being said, the only ones who have been featured in the current New Republic era thus far have been Luke, Threepio, and Artoo (though Leia did get a reference in Ahsoka as head of the New Republic Defense Fleet). Although these were the heroes who fought Thrawn in the Legends trilogy of novels and beyond, it’s more likely that taking on the Grand Admiral will fall to several of the other heroes in the video.
These newer heroes include Jedi Ezra Bridger who’s also returned to the known galaxy, Hera Syndulla, Zeb, Din Djarin, Bo-Katan Kryze, Boba Fett, Fennic Shand, and perhaps even Commander Rex. Jedi survivor Cal Kestis and Merrin were also featured in the video as they fought the Empire during the Dark Times, though it’s currently unknown if they lived through the Age of Rebellion and on into the New Republic. Likewise, one could imagine that Ahsoka and Sabine would also help fight Thrawn, though they’re now trapped on Peridea for the time being. Regardless, the video makes it clear that Thrawn will be facing plenty of opposition in Star Wars’ future.
