Star Wars Theory Turns The Mandalorians Into The Next Galactic Power – Not The New Republic

Star Wars Theory Turns The Mandalorians Into The Next Galactic Power – Not The New Republic

The weakness of the fledgling New Republic has been revealed in The Mandalorian, and this Star Wars theory suggests the Mandalorians will take the government’s place as the next galactic power. The first live-action Star Wars TV show sets the expectations for the strength of the New Republic straightaway in The Mandalorian season 1, with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin considering them “a joke.” Lawlessness continues to persist in the Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy, and despite this, The Mandalorian has shown time and time again the New Republic is making no move to take control of it, instead focusing on worlds who both are closer to the Core and have sworn full allegiance to the galaxy’s new government.

With Grand Admiral Thrawn having made his return to the galaxy in Ahsoka, another galactic conflict is imminent, and the New Republic has proven they lack the strength required to take care of it. Many of the leading figures in the New Republic’s political body doubt the true existence and threat of Imperial Remnants as it is, and if this arrogance has dripped down to their military and defense forces, then even they would pose no true threat to the incoming danger. The New Republic has already failed to defend a vital part of the galaxy, and another group who’s stepped up has proven they can take the government’s place.

The New Republic Couldn’t Even Defend The Hydian Way

Star Wars Theory Turns The Mandalorians Into The Next Galactic Power – Not The New Republic

The Mandalorian has established the planet of Nevarro on the Hydian Way, one of the Star Wars galaxy’s most vital hyperspace lanes. As the heart of trade and travel in the galaxy, hyperspace lanes need to be protected above all else; yet Nevarro is not only allowed to be sieged by pirates, but it’s also refused help from the New Republic itself. This means the galaxy’s current government isn’t willing to use its resources to protect even the most important parts of the galaxy, and thus aren’t equipped enough to handle a galaxy-wide conflict. In comparison, one group has not only been able to help with this conflict, but they have also accomplished their own successful feat of defense.

The Mandalorians Proved Themselves The Galaxy’s Protectors

It’s the Mandalorians who come to Nevarro’s aid against the pirates in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5, with Din inspiring his covert to reveal themselves once and for all and live in the light of the galaxy rather than the shadows. Not only do the Mandalorians succeed against Nevarro’s pirates, but they also go on to win back their homeworld of Mandalore, proving their strength against the Imperial Remnants and posing their own threat to the earliest forces of the First Order. In addition to all of this, Din’s and Bo-Katan Kryze’s stint on Plazir-15 also proves the Mandalorians are more than willing to act as protectors, with the two Mandalorians alone saving the entire planet from an aggressive droid crisis.

This won’t be Bo-Katan’s first time on the Mandalorian throne, and as she leads the effort to rebuild Mandalore, she will no doubt recognize how influential a role as the galaxy’s protectors could be for her and her people. Earning the trust of other planets in the Outer Rim and even other parts of the galaxy is invaluable, especially during such a lawless time. With a battle on the cusp of brewing, it would be an even smarter move for Bo-Katan to establish her planet and her people in an amicable state with those around them, as it could help them build allies for any kind of upcoming conflict.

The Mandalorians Are The Greatest Threat To The Empire – Not The New Republic

Bo-Katan and Mandalorians in Season 3 Finale

Now that the Mandalorians have advanced their reputation as the galaxy’s greatest warriors and potential protectors, people will be looking to them for help rather than turning to the New Republic. Their rescue of Nevarro and reclamation of their homeworld has already been widespread enough for the New Republic Senate to recognize, as dismissive as they are of the topic when Captain Carson Teva brings it up in Ahsoka. The fear on the faces of the Imperial Shadow Council when Moff Gideon hints at the Mandalorians’ plans to retake their homeworld only further proves how renowned the strength of the Mandalorians truly is, and this fear has no doubt multiplied after the Mandalorians have actually pulled their reclamation off.

Accepting the requests for help from other planets would support any potential interest Bo-Katan has in maintaining her people’s status as protectors in the galaxy, no matter how small the request may be. She and Din make quick work of Plazir-15 with just the two of them, and should she employ more and more of their forces to help others, they could not only gain strong alliances but also import resources vital to the rebuilding of their planet. This is something the Mandalorians desperately need at this time, especially if they intend to defend themselves from another catastrophic devastation of their homeworld.

Will The Mandalorian Era See Mandalore Destroyed Again?

Ruins of Mandalore in Mandalorian Season 3

If the Mandalorians continue to advance their reputation as a galactic power, then they could potentially face the destruction of their homeworld once again at the hands of either the Imperial Remnants or even the First Order. It wouldn’t be the first time this event has been repeated, as it was their ancient conflicts with the Jedi that caused them to retreat to domed cities in the first place. The lack of Mandalorians in the sequel trilogy era of Star Wars also makes this possibility more realistic, as it would certainly explain why none of them are around at the time.

Still, Mandalorian ships are present at the Battle of Exegol, which means any potential purge of Mandalorians in the future isn’t completely successful. Hopefully, the Mandalorians will do whatever it takes to keep their homeworld safe, and they will continue to unify rather than divide in the way that once led to their destruction. They certainly have proved they’re more unified now than various parts of the New Republic itself, which gives them the upper hand in the running for the galaxy’s greatest power. There’s no doubt The Mandalorian season 4 will continue to show the potential of the Mandalorians’ galactic influence, as well as the additional weakness within the New Republic itself.

Acting as the first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian has become incredibly popular on Disney+, partly due to Mando’s relationship with Grogu, which the internet dubbed “Baby Yoda” upon his introduction in season 1.
