Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Video Reveals BTS Ewok Footage

A new behind the scenes clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been posted online, giving fans a closer look at Warwick Davis returning to his iconic role of Wicket the Ewok alongside his son. With The Rise of Skywalker‘s upcoming digital and Blu-ray release on the horizon, fans have started to get more and more clips from the film. However, that means those who have yet to see the Skywalker saga’s final chapter may be getting more spoilers than they want. This new behind the scenes footage gives more details on Wicket’s surprise cameo in the film.

The Rise of Skywalker is loaded with moments that are tailor made for longtime fans. Some of those moments are a little harder to spot than others, especially the movie’s many Easter eggs. However, cameos like Warwick Davis’ are the real crowd-pleasers. Davis made his first appearance in the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. For the last movie, filmmakers decided to bring him back in the role that started it all. However, this time Davis’ son Harrison is along for the ride, playing his in universe Ewok offspring whose name is Pommet.

The duo show up towards the end of the film, in a montage mirroring the universe-wide celebration from Return of the Jedi that shows First Order ships falling from the sky in iconic places around the galaxy. One of these places is Endor, where an older Wicket can be seen happily watching a Star Destroyer explode alongside his son. The behind the scene clip reveals what it meant for Davis to return to the role after all these years. Take a look at the new clip, from SyFy Wire, below:

The video also includes a chat with Davis about putting on that space bear costume again. “He’s older and wiser and he has a little scamp to handle now,” Davis shares. The clip gives fans a little glimpse at what’s going on behind the mask as well, showing the two actors playing out the scene without their costumes on. As for those fuzzy outfits, Davis has quite a bit to say about what it’s like in one: “It’s difficult to move, it’s extremely hot, you can’t see, you can’t breath.” That falls right in line with what many other actors have said about some of Star Wars’ most iconic costumes.

The Rise of Skywalker‘s Blu-ray is sure to boast an abundance of behind the scenes features like this. Previous releases have gone into great detail on the costumes, set designs, and inspirations that make the Star Wars universe so unique. However, unlike the last two sequel trilogy home releases, The Rise of Skywalker Blu-ray will contain no deleted scenes or commentary. But the film’s “making of” documentary is sure to be worthwhile, especially considering the rumors of a strained and rushed production.

Considering all the heated discussion around Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it’s always nice to see franchise veterans talk lovingly about their involvement. It’s important to get reminders of how special something like Star Wars can be, even if it doesn’t always make everybody happy. Warwick Davis’ passion for the franchise really shines through in the above clip and seeing him direct his son on how to react to the spectacle of a Star Destroyer falling out of the sky is a moment no fan will forget.
