Star Wars Squadrons: 10 Classic Space Battles We’d Love To See Recreated In The Game

Star Wars Squadrons: 10 Classic Space Battles We’d Love To See Recreated In The Game

While Star Wars: Squadrons is extremely interesting because of the fact that it takes place in between the fall of the empire after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian with a completely new story and set of characters in a time period that many Star Wars fans don’t know much about.

But because the game focuses on the new storyline and new space battles, fans of the films don’t get to see any of the classic battles recreated. It would have been nice if there were something similar to an arcade mode, where players can replay some of the best space battles from the franchise, piloting around the galaxy in a fascinating and interactive experience.

Battle Of Endor

Star Wars Squadrons: 10 Classic Space Battles We’d Love To See Recreated In The Game

The Battle of Endor is one of the most famous space battles in Star Wars and in the galaxy as a whole. It is the defining moment that the galaxy became free of the clutches of Emperor Palpatine and the Empire as a whole. And while in the films we saw a different perspective of the battle, seeing Luke and Vader fight within the new Death Star, or Han and Leia on the ground fighting against the Stormtroopers with the Ewoks. It would have been super interesting to see this space battle in all of its intensity, flying alongside the Millenium Falcon.

Battle Of Naboo

Battle of Naboo Star Wars

The Battle of Naboo is the first major space battle we see in the prequel trilogy, and while many fans of the series found it not so impressive due to all of the CGI, it did show a young Anakin being an already pretty impressive pilot. This battle would have been extremely nice to see in the game due to the fact that it has some different starfighters that aren’t available in the game and the enemies are droids for the first time in the movie series.

Battle Of Starkiller Base

Battle of Starkiller Base Star Wars The Force Awakens

The Battle of Starkiller Base was a pretty impressive battle that was fairly similar to the Battle of Yavin, but the swerving in and out of the icy planet would be an absolutely amazing thing to weave in and out of in-game.

Fans got to see the majority of this space battle from the perspective of Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren’s fight on the ground of the planet. We saw glimpses of Poe and his crew as they traversed the sky, but seeing this battle purely from the sky would have been amazing.

Battle Of Coruscant

Battle of Coruscant Star Wars

The Battle of Coruscant is one of the coolest space battles in the prequels series. As Anakin says, “this is where the fun begins.” The battle is incredibly fun and pretty intense. Once again, this battle is mostly against droids and has a whole bunch of new starfighters, including some fighters that were seemingly made for the Jedi. It would be interesting to play this battle as either one of the Jedi, their clone troopers, or any of the droids and separatists.

Battle Of Scarif

The Battle of Scarif in Star Wars

The Battle of Scarif surely was one of the most epic space battles that fans have seen in Star Wars in a long time. This battle took place above the planet and along the beaches. The scenery for this battle would have been incredible, as rebel or imperial ships would have to maneuver around the bigger ships and AT-ATs. It also would have been an amazing chance to see the Ghost from Star Wars: Rebels.

Battle Of Takodana

Battle of Takodana Star Wars

While the Battle of Takodana from The Force Awakens was a much smaller scale space battle, it would have been a pretty amazing level or mission in Star Wars Squadrons. The battle is super scenic taking place on a beautiful planet filled with exotic terrain. There are mountains and tomes all around the pilots, along with a vast body of water and the forest that lays just beyond Maz’s cantina. Of course, the battle here was rather small so it would make more sense if this was a mini-mission or something, but just to see this battle and actually go into a planet’s atmosphere and fly around would be amazing.

Battle Of Hoth

Battle of Hoth in Star Wars with a flight shooting at an AT-AT

The battle of Hoth is another classic and would have been so great to see in Squadrons. One of the coolest aspects of the game was being able to maneuver and fly around different objects in the game. Flying through debris and attacking Star Destroyers makes everything just feel so interactive. The Battle of Hoth would be the same way, as the player would be able to fly around AT-AT’s the same as Luke, or have them on their side if they fly as an imperial.

Battle Of Crait

Crait Cropped

While many fans weren’t too thrilled with the Battle of Crait, it still makes for a pretty epic battle. The ships would have been an odd thing to overcome considering many of the rebel ships were low to the ground, however, the rushing of the red salt behind them would surely be an intense spectacle to witness first hand.

The Battle of Crait also would have been super cool from the imperial side, as everyone lined up at the ready to take charge against one another. Each blast to the ground would have sent up an intense burst of red into the sky that would blur vision.

The Clone Wars

Clone Wars Space Battle Star Wars

While the Clone Wars went on for a long time, involving a great number of space battles (the battle of Coruscant included), it would have been incredibly interesting to see and play any of the battles from The Clone Wars animated series. The series is so vital to the prequel era and is widely loved by all Star Wars fans who watch it. Therefore, a space battle set during the Clone Wars where the player could choose to be a clone trooper or a separatist droid would have been incredibly entertaining.

Battle Of Yavin

Battle of Yavin Star Wars

The Battle of Yavin is definitely the most notorious space battle, maybe even in history. To be a rebel or imperial pilot during this battle would have been incredibly fun for any fan of the series as they would begin to feel like they were apart of it themselves. As a rebel, the player could weave in and out of the Death Star’s trenches as they help Luke against the TIE fighters. As an imperial, the player could fight against the rebels until the final moments of the explosion and maybe see the Death Star, and the team they had just been aiding defeated. This is the space battle that everyone was hoping would make it into Star Wars: Squadrons.
