Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Gets an Honest Trailer

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Gets an Honest Trailer

After having set their satiric sights on the original Star Wars film, the crew at Screen Junkies have now unveiled their latest Honest Trailer for the (anti-)climactic third film in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith. Not too many fans of the seminal space opera franchise are likely to cite Revenge of the Sith as their overall favorite, though it has gone down as the saving grace of Lucas’ prequel trilogy by default.

Even if you hold some glimmer of hope that Episode III couldn’t have been nearly as bad as you might remember it, this latest takedown of its respective flaws and egregious errors in continuity will leave you shaking your head once more. Check out the video, above.

Taking sharp aim at Revenge of the Sith for its overall lack of quality, and general tendency in approaching the franchise from a perspective beholden to visual excess over narrative nuance, Lucas’ final film certainly takes a beating in the latest Honest Trailers installment. The problems cited here clearly illustrate just why the Star Wars prequel trilogy remains a popular punching bag for so many fans who otherwise love the franchise.

After a decade’s worth of pondering over what went wrong, this latest Honest Trailer certainly does a fine job of succinctly listing all of Lucas’ widely-perceived missteps with his otherwise revered feature film franchise. And once the credits begin to roll, fans can finally put to bed any lingering waves of ill-will they may still hold for the last spate of Star Wars films, before returning to a galaxy far, far away upon the release of Episode VII this Friday.

For better and for worse, Lucas bid his farewell to the property that made him a household name with a trilogy of films out of synch with their immediate predecessors. But with J.J. Abrams’ blockbuster installment close at hand, perhaps the follies of the series’ past can finally be put aside in light of the generally favorable reception that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already received.
