Star Wars Reveals The First Time Ahsoka Used The Force

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Tales of the Jedi episode 1.Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi reveals many things about Ahsoka Tano’s life at different points, including her birth origins and the first time she used the Force. Tales of the Jedi is a collection of six animated Star Wars shorts, with three of them focusing on different parts of Ahsoka’s life as a Jedi. Two of these episodes feature events tied directly to Order 66, both before and after the crucial moment of Ahsoka’s journey, with the other centering on her birth and very early life.

Episode 1 of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi features Ahsoka being born on the planet of Shili then flashes forward a year or two to a hunting trip with her mother, Pav-ti. The episode culminates in Ahsoka being whisked away by a huge saber-toothed tiger and reveals her first usage of the Force — much lower in stakes than Ahsoka’s Inquisitor encounter in Tales of the Jedi episode 6. When the tiger is about to eat Ahsoka, the baby touches its nose and placates the animal, accompanied by the very familiar Force sound effect used throughout Star Wars. This is followed by baby Ahsoka riding the animal back to her village, prompting its leader to label her as a Jedi.

How & When Did Ahsoka Become A Jedi?

Star Wars Reveals The First Time Ahsoka Used The Force

Ahsoka Tano became a Jedi when she was around three years old. This took place in 33BBY, as she was born in 36BBY. After her village sent a message to the Jedi Order regarding Ahsoka’s connection to the Force, an imposter intercepted the transmission. Thinking they could use Ahsoka’s power for themselves, the imposter appeared at the village and attempted to take Ahsoka. However, the young Jedi’s attunement to the Force told her that the imposter posed danger, and the plan was thwarted. Ahsoka was then greeted by Jedi Master Plo Koon, who arrived on Shili on behalf of the Jedi Order.

Despite Ahsoka’s fear of the imposter, she trusted Plo Koon instantly. He taught her how to calm her feelings using her breathing, and Ahsoka was accepted into the Jedi Order. She was then taken to Coruscant to be raised in the Jedi Temple as a Jedi Initiate. About 11 years later, in 22BBY, Ahsoka became Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan after the onset of the Clone Wars, beginning her journey in the franchise as seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

How Powerful Ahsoka Really Is

Star Wars Tales of the Jedi Ahsoka Tano and Inquisitor Lightsaber

As proven by Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Ahsoka is a very powerful Jedi. She was shown to have had a great connection with the Force from a very young age, as evident by her encounter with the tiger in Tales of the Jedi episode 1. On top of this, Star Wars: The Clone Wars certainly portrayed Ahsoka as a powerful Jedi, especially toward the latter stages of the show. In The Clone Wars season 7, for example, Ahsoka is one of the leading commanders of the Siege of Mandalore and even bests Maul in a lightsaber duel. Shortly after this, she survives Order 66, all while not taking a single life of the clones she used to call friends. All of this, combined with the events of Star Wars: Rebels, in which she fought Maul again, plenty of Inquisitors, and even Darth Vader, prove that Ahsoka is a highly powerful Jedi, as further compounded by Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
