Star Wars Reveals Jango Fett’s Surprise Link to a Popular Jedi Master (Not Mace Windu)

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Jango Fett #1

One of Jango Fett’s biggest jobs before the prequels was all thanks to a surprising Jedi Master in the Star Wars canon. As seen in Marvel Comics’ new Jango Fett series, the titular and infamous bounty hunter agrees to retrieve a coveted artifact meant to unify an entire Republic world. However, a classic Jedi is hilariously the root cause of why Jango was hired in the first place.

In Jango Fett #1 from Ethan Sacks and Luke Ross, the galaxy’s most infamous bounty hunter is hired to track down the recently stolen “Hope of Glee Anselm”, an artifact recently given back to the ocean planet by the Republic to support unity between its rival sentient races, the Anselmis on the surface and the Nautolans who live underwater. While it’s unclear who stole the artifact and why, Jango’s services are requested all the same. However, it’s also revealed that the only reason the aid of the Jedi wasn’t enlisted was because of one Jedi Knight in particular: Kit Fisto.

Humorously, Kit Fisto being a Nautolan seemingly means that the entire Jedi Order couldn’t be trusted in the eyes of the Anselmis. As a result, Jango Fett has taken on what will likely be one of his biggest jobs ever before the events of the Star Wars prequels.

Jango Fett Takes New Job In New Star Wars Series

Advocating for himself and speaking to his already impressive reputation as a bounty hunter, Jango Fett claims that the right decision was made in calling him first, even if the Jedi would have seemingly been called were it not for Kit Fisto. However, it’s also revealed that Jango Fett wasn’t the only bounty hunter who was told about this new job, meaning that he’ll likely have some strong competition for the “Hope of Glee Anselm” in the issues that are still to come.

This includes Aurra Sing, a deadly assassin who appears in this new Star Wars issue as well. Having been released from prison by what looks to be corrupt Republic officials who seemingly want Jango dead before the artifact can be recovered, it’s clear that a Jango Fett v Aurra Sing battle will be imminent in future issues. This should be rather interesting considering Aurra’s future in the Star Wars canon as one of the first mentors for Jango’s son Boba during the Clone Wars.

Kit Fisto May Explain Why Jango Fett Was Hired By Dooku

Was It Because Of This Job Before The Prequels?

Kit Fisto in Attack of the Clones

Kit Fisto being a Nautolan looks to be directly responsible for Jango Fett getting this new job in this Star Wars series. Likewise, the events of this series are taking place very close to the beginning of The Phantom Menace. As such, Jango will soon be approached and hired by Count Dooku to be the genetic template for the clone army as seen in Attack of the Clones.

Keeping that in mind, perhaps the successful completion of this job is what puts Jango on Dooku’s radar as a candidate. If so, it would suggest that Kit Fisto played a role in Jango becoming the model for the entire Grand Army of the Republic. While bizarre and very unexpected, it would be a pretty cool connection point in the Star Wars canon.
