Star Wars’ Newest Jedi Show Update Promises A Major Canon Milestone

Star Wars‘s most recent kid-centric animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures has made a major milestone for the canon. The series is set in the landmark High Republic Era, featured in books of the same title, The High Republic publishing initiative. These books and comics take place from 400 to 200 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and deal with the Jedi Order at its peak. The initiative features pieces of content for all ages, and that includes the Disney+ series Young Jedi Adventures, which has now bridged the gap from page to screen for the first time ever for The High Republic.

Lucasfilm announced via IGN that the series’ new episodes ‘Charhound Chase’ and ‘Stuck in the Muck’ will feature appearances from characters and locations from the book series. Set to appear are Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar and his Twi’lek master Loden Greatstorm (plus their pet charhound Ember), the Jedi space station Starlight Beacon, and its Kessurian head of operations Estala Maru. This significantly marks the first time that characters originating from The High Republic books are making their transition to the TV screen. Bell and Loden are fan-favorite characters that first appeared in The High Republic‘s first novel, Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule, and Estala Maru debuted in the era’s Marvel Comic series.

High Republic Characters Hit TV Screens

Star Wars’ Newest Jedi Show Update Promises A Major Canon Milestone

Famous Jedi Master Yoda is a recurring character in Young Jedi Adventures, but these new appearances will further cement the show in the High Republic Era, moving it past just movie recognizability. Their appearances also solidify the series’ place in the hyper specific Star Wars timeline, particularly because of the limited amount of time Starlight Beacon was around. This placement also hints at a possible dark future for the series’ main younglings considering future events of the books, which will be determined as The High Republic Phase 3 unfolds.
