Star Wars’ New Galaxy Map Sets Up A Surprising Mandalorian Reunion

Disney’s new Star Wars map may hint that Din Djarin and Grogu will return to an iconic location from The Mandalorian season 1. As the franchise continues to pioneer more new planets in the galaxy far, far away, it slowly fills in the blank edges of the map. Of course, the Star Wars galaxy tends to be ever-changing. But the idea of hyperspace routes between star systems has been a constant throughout both Legends and Canon. Similar to highways in real life, these routes connected the major planets in the galaxy and (usually) offered a safe path from one system to the next.

Space travel is a crucial aspect to The Mandalorian, which makes sense given how episodic the series is. Din and Grogu tend to visit a different location in almost every episode. Nevertheless, The Mandalorian season 3 finale seemed to show both of them settling down on the outskirts of Nevarro. And while Din’s bounty hunting days may finally be behind him, he still needs to earn a living by contracting for the New Republic. He and Grogu can relax on Nevarro in-between their missions, but they will ultimately still be traveling the galaxy in search of dangerous criminals.

One quote from a creator of The Mandalorian confirms Din Djarin’s important arc regressed in season 3, and there’s a simple reason for this change.

Sorgan Neighbors Adelphi On The Galaxy Map

Adelphi and Sorgan from The Mandalorian right next to each other on the Star Wars map

Two popular planets featured in The Mandalorian actually neighbor each other on the Star Wars galaxy map. Sorgan, a vital planet in The Mandalorian season 1, and Adelphi, where the Adelphi Base and Adelphi Rangers are located. Both of these planets are located in the bottom right of the map, next to other popular planets such as Naboo and Geonosis. Sorgan first appeared in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 4, where Din Djarin encountered Cara Dune at the local tavern there. He later returned to the same tavern in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 7, in order to recruit Cara to help him save Grogu.

In addition to being the place where he first met Cara, Sorgan was also host to Din’s first real mission with Grogu at his side. He and Cara assisted the local villagers with taking down an AT-ST that had been plaguing them for some time. But while Cara and Din spent days teaching the locals how to defend themselves, Grogu became friends with the children in the village. This prompted Din to rethink his decision to drag Grogu along on his dangerous quests. Ultimately, Sorgan served as a milestone for both Din and Grogu, as they realized they both wanted to continue adventuring together.

Din Djarin & Grogu Will Be On Adelphi Often

Carson Teva and Din Djarin.

While Din and Grogu don’t have an express reason to revisit Sorgan yet, they will likely be traveling to Adelphi a lot more in The Mandalorian season 4 and beyond. Din’s freelance work for the New Republic is somewhat unofficial, with Carson Teva being his only contact for jobs. Carson Teva is the captain of the Adelphi Rangers, meaning Adelphi Base will be the first place Din looks for him when he’s in need of work. And since Adelphi is so close to Sorgan, it’s possible the series is setting up Din’s return there.

It’s unlikely Cara Dune will make a return in The Mandalorian, given how she was written out of the story. Greef Karga tells Din that Cara was recruited by the New Republic Special Forces. So while Din revisited Sorgan once before to recruit Cara, there are plenty of other reasons why he might go back. Din tells Grogu in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 4 that Sorgan has “no star port, no industrial centers, no population density.” In other words, it’s far less visible and well-known than his current home of Nevarro. If he ends up being chased or is on the run, Sorgan is the perfect planet to hide out on.

Will Omera Return In The Mandalorian Season 4?

It’s unlikely that Din Djarin will ever have a Star Wars romance, but that doesn’t mean he can’t revisit some of the character and locations from previous episodes of The Mandalorian. Specifically, Omera could be another reason Din returns to Sorgan. Omera was a human woman from The Mandalorian season 1, episode 4 who Din Djarin nearly fell in love with. There was even a moment where he almost let Omera unmask him, long before he unmasked himself to save Grogu in The Mandalorian season 2. Ultimately, he stopped Omera and assured her he didn’t belong on Sorgan, but a lot of things have changed since then.

One of the main reasons Din fled Sorgan and left Omera was because of the bounty hunters pursuing Grogu at the behest of Moff Gideon. With Gideon gone, there isn’t really anything to stop him from seeing Omera again. Furthermore, Grogu would probably like to see his old friend Winta, as well. The series would be wise to revisit these characters—however briefly—since it’d help establish the fact that characters don’t just last one episode. And if Omera does return to The Mandalorian, it may seriously prompt Din to rethink keeping his helmet on.
