Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Fixes Confusing Menu

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Fixes Confusing Menu

A new menu debuted at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that fixes their previously confusing “in theme” menus. The Star Wars theme park was first announced back in 2015 and just opened this year on May 31 at Disneyland Resort in California and on August 29 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Disney Parks’ latest attraction proved to be a monumental success, as Galaxy’s Edge hit maximum capacity on its opening day. Unfortunately, it was reported shortly after that attendance for the park was significantly lower than expected. But, with the opening of their new attraction Rise of the Resistance on the horizon along with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney parks could see a major spike in attendance.

Galaxy’s Edge transports visitors to a galaxy far, far away. Namely, a location on the planet of Batuu called Black Spire Outpost. The park also falls in line with the movies, currently falling on the timeline between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Alongside the immersive atmosphere at Black Spire Outpost, attendees can participate in a variety of activities, including constructing their own lightsaber, buying exclusive merchandise, and socializing with droids at Oga’s Cantina. Not only that, but Galaxy’s Edge boasts numerous Star Wars-themed food and drinks, and now visitors can have a clearer understanding of what they’re ordering.

Originally, the menus at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Galaxy’s Edge were solely Star Wars-themed. But, the names of the menu items were later changed to avoid confusion. They were then returned back to their themed names after Star Wars fans voiced their disappointment in the decision, claiming it made Galaxy’s Edge feel less immersive. Now, the theme park has found a happy medium between the two. According to BlogMickey, “Disney has implemented a hybrid naming system for the menu items.” This latest change is, “supposed to make ordering easier for guests […] while still keeping a  Star Wars-type name.” They went on to report that, “All menu boards and physical menus have been updated with the change.” Check out the full menu changes below.

Despite a lower attendance at the moment, Galaxy’s Edge has still proven to be an incredibly ambitious feat for Disney and an immersive experience for Star Wars fans. As is with any new project, Disney experienced a few kinks with the park upon opening, but they continue to smooth them out over time. They truly seem dedicated to creating an exciting and worthwhile experience for attendees.

Even if it’s taken a while to find a happy medium, Galaxy’s Edge seems to be slowly finding its groove. Once December hits, the park is sure to experience a surge of activity. Considering that both Rise of the Resistance at Disney World and The Rise of Skywalker open in December within a few weeks of each other, attendance is sure to skyrocket. The release of the former will be especially big for the park, as having more than one ride available is sure to attract visitors. But, until that day officially arrives, fans can enjoy the immersive array of activities that’s currently at their disposal at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
