Star Wars Fans Build Incredible Show-Accurate Boba Fett Armor

Devoted Star Wars fans have managed to create an impressively accurate replica of Boba Fett‘s armor. The feared bounty hunter first appeared in an animated segment of the much-reviled Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978, before making his canonical, in-person debut in The Empire Strikes Back. The character has since become a fan-favorite within the Star Wars universe and has featured in a number of successful films and television shows, including his own Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.

After being resurrected for The Mandalorian season 2 to assist the helmeted hero Din Djarin, Boba Fett was confirmed to have his own spin-off series starring Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter, having previously played Boba’s father, Jango Fett, in Attack of the Clones. First premiering on December 29, the series serves as both a prequel and sequel to Fett’s appearance in The Mandalorian. Its primary narrative follows his rise as the new crime-lord of Tatooine, the position held by his previous employer Jabba the Hutt. However, the series also delivers answers to the long-held questions regarding how Fett managed to escape from the Great Pit of Carkoon following Return of the Jedi and what happened to him before he recovered his armor from Djarin.

Now, Instagram user just.aayal has shared an incredibly accurate recreation of Boba Fett’s battered armor in The Mandalorian, built by some ardently passionate Star Wars fans. The essential design and coloring are amazing enough to be a spitting image to the one used in the series. But what is especially impressive is the attention to detail given to the scratches and dents which make it almost indistinguishable from how the armor looks when Fett reclaims it from Din Djarin (and before he gives it a long-overdue polish).

This exceptional model of Fett’s beloved armor is likely a celebratory response to the bounty hunter finally getting his own spin-off series. Fans of the character have been extremely patient for a movie or television show based around Boba Fett to emerge and it was a concept that Disney had been considering ever since their acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2014. Given the popularity the character has enjoyed for over 40 years, it always seemed a question of “when” rather than “if.” Despite this, however, The Book of Boba Fett so far appears to have divided Star Wars fans, with its slower pace putting off some aficionados who were expecting the same volume of surprises and excitement offered by The Mandalorian. Others, on the other hand, have been more positive, praising the show’s use of visual storytelling and its dynamic exploration of one of the franchise’s most enigmatic characters.

Nevertheless, the series is still very much in its early days. With only two episodes aired and 5 more to come, there’s still much that it can do to win over its more skeptical viewers, particularly with the promise of a big surprise in the season 1 finale. But whether The Book of Boba Fett ultimately proves to be as successful as its parent show or not, the love for Boba Fett himself is clearly as strong as ever. With fans applying themselves to creating such a faultless duplication of the bounty hunter’s armor, Disney need not worry about the character losing his appeal anytime soon.
