Star Wars: Evidence Suggests Grogu Is Officially No Longer A Jedi After His Book Of Boba Fett Decision

After Grogu’s fateful decision near the end of The Book Of Boba Fett, evidence implies he is officially no longer a Jedi. The end of The Mandalorian season 2 saw Grogu joining Luke Skywalker’s new Jedi Order. However, that wasn’t the end of the story, as Grogu would soon have to make a choice that would change his future forever.

The end of The Mandalorian season 2 saw Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin saying goodbye to Grogu. Din Djarin believed that being with Luke Skywalker’s new Jedi Order was not only the best way to cultivate Grogu’s talent, but also the safest place for him to be. After all, the two had been on the run from those who wished to harm Grogu since the beginning of the series. Being with the Jedi would allow him extra protection, both by being with people powerful in the Force to fight off those wishing him harm and by making him stronger. However, The Book Of Boba Fett saw Grogu choose to leave Luke in favor of Din Djarin, and now Star Wars has proved just how fateful this decision was.

Here is how to watch all Star Wars movies and TV shows, both chronologically and by release date, and how the Star Wars timeline works.

Star Wars Game Only Lists Grogu As A Mandalorian, Not A Jedi

Din Djarin and Grogu in The Mandalorian season 2

In the Star Wars mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, Grogu and his IG-12 armor are listed only in the Mandalorian tag, not in the Jedi or Droid tags. This seems to confirm that Grogu is officially no longer considered a Jedi. This makes perfect sense, as the end of The Book Of Boba Fett made it clear that Grogu had turned away from the Jedi Order for good. By choosing to leave specifically over a strong attachment, Grogu fully rejected the principles of the Jedi Order. The ending of The Mandalorian season 3 saw Grogu become an official foundling, adopted by Din Djarin according to the customs of his tribe.

Grogu Has Officially Chosen The Path Of A Mandalorian

Now officially a Mandalorian, Grogu has begun training with the other foundlings, combining his Force abilities and his father’s training to win fights. This makes it clear that Grogu has fully accepted the path of the Mandalorian. Not only that, but it is obvious that Grogu is much happier this way. As Luke observed in The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu could not give his full attention to his Jedi training because his heart was still with his father. He was not cut out to be a Jedi, not because of a lack of ability, but because Grogu understood something that Luke Skywalker didn’t: his attachments made him strong.

Grogu’s transformation from Jedi to Mandalorian, as seemingly confirmed in Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes, fits his character arc perfectly. The moment that Grogu jumped up and hugged Din Djarin after being separated in The Book of Boba Fett finale was absolutely heartwarming, and it proves the two are an excellent pair. Their father-son dynamic is the heart of the show. It makes complete sense that Grogu is now being recognized as a full Mandalorian in other places in the Star Wars franchise, starting with his decision in The Book of Boba Fett.
