Star Wars has earned 9 Saturn Award nominations, but will face heavy competition from the likes of Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Organized by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, the Saturn Awards celebrate the best in genre entertainment across film and television. They’ve been running for over 50 years now, and the latest batch of nominations will delight Lucasfilm.
The 51st Saturn Awards include no less than eight for various Star Wars TV shows. They include:
- Best Science-Fiction TV Series: Andor; The Mandalorian
- Best New Genre Television Series: Andor
- Best Actor In A Television Series: Diego Luna, Andor
- Best Supporting Actress In A Television Series: Katee Sackhoff, The Mandalorian; Genevieve O’Reilly, Andor
- Best Guest Star In A Television Series: Giancarlo Esposito, The Mandalorian; Andy Serkis, Andor
- Best Animated Television Series Or Special: Star Wars: The Bad Batch
As exciting as these nominations may be, Lucasfilm is facing heavy competition from the likes of The Witcher and Wednesday – not to mention Star Trek, which has no less than 14 nominations across the board.

Can Star Wars Win Big At The Saturn Awards?
Star Wars tends to see a great deal of success at the Saturn Awards, but this time Lucasfilm really do face intense competition (not least from The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal, nominated for his role in The Last of Us). Still, the nominations alone are delightful, and come after IMDb announced its top 10 TV shows of 2023 – including no less than two live-action Star Wars shows. Katee Sackhoff will be celebrating her ascension as Bo-Katan Kryze, having essentially served as co-star of The Mandalorian season 3.
Star Wars‘ biggest critical darling is, of course, Andor. Set during the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign, Tony Gilroy’s hit TV show features an intricate plot unlike anything previously seen in Star Wars. Andor‘s cast deserve all the praise and acclaim they’re getting, putting on some tremendous performances. It’s actually a little surprising not to see Stellan Skarsgård nominated for the role of Luthen Rael, the manipulative rebel leader who steals every scene he’s in. Hopefully that will be rectified when Andor season 2 comes out, cementing Star Wars further nominations in future.
