Star Wars Confirms Major Din Djarin Change After The Mandalorian Season 3

Star Wars has at last confirmed one major change to Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin in the aftermath of The Mandalorian season 3, something that offers the beloved character a promising future in the franchise. While The Mandalorian season 3 was ultimately met with mixed reviews, particularly in terms of Din Djarin’s character arc being changed and somewhat sidelined, its legacy has ultimately paved the way for the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The ending of The Mandalorian season 3 still beautifully sets up Din’s future, with Star Wars now having confirmed one major change to his character.

The Mandalorian: Din Djarin’s Full Timeline, Backstory, & Star Wars Future Explained

The Mandalorian’s Din Djarin has quickly become one of Star Wars’ most iconic characters. Here’s his full timeline, backstory, and future explained.

In a press release from Hasbro, a new Din Djarin figure – modeled after his appearance in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 “Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore” – has been given a description that sets up his Star Wars future. Hasbro writes that Din Djarin was “once a lone bounty hunter” before reuniting with Grogu and adopting him as his own, confirming that Din is no longer a bounty hunter. This is the first time Star Wars has truly spoken about this key character change, after The Mandalorian season 3 itself teased his new role in the New Republic in its finale.

Hasbro’s description of their new Grogu figure also emphasizes this new role of Din’s, writing that the duo will “take a stand against the Imperial remnant.” This is something that’s partially seen in The Mandalorian season 3, but will no doubt be the center of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, as well as a potential The Mandalorian season 4. Din and Grogu fighting with the Mandalorians against Moff Gideon was certainly a brief display of them fighting the Imperial remnant, but their future will be fully dedicated to this effort.

Din Djarin Is No Longer A Bounty Hunter

Din Djarin The Mandalorian season 3

Despite him speaking in code to Carson about bounty hunting for the New Republic, Star Wars has officially confirmed that Din is no longer a bounty hunter. This change has come about naturally for the best bounty hunter in the parsec, as the destruction of Din’s Razor Crest gunship in The Mandalorian season 2 and his less-than-successful job on the Glavis Ringworld in The Book of Boba Fett episode 5 already proved this shift was coming. Now that Din will be Grogu’s official Mandalorian mentor, he is officially abandoning the life of a bounty hunter.

This is promising for Din’s future in Star Wars, as it opens the door for all kinds of new stories to be told surrounding him and his adopted son. Mandalorians have often been bounty hunters in Star Wars, and now, the franchise has the chance to explore the life of a Mandalorian who no longer follows that path. As Din Djarin prepares to lead Star Wars into its next theatrical era, it’s an absolute joy to watch his character blossom into a new era as well, with audiences soon getting to see Din become part of the effort to keep the galaxy safe.
