Star Wars Canon Has Secretly Brought Back One Horrific Race Of Force Predators

Star Wars secretly brought its most horrific race of Force predators back into canon all the way back in 2015. Throughout its 46 years of existence, Star Wars has had no shortage of terrifying villains. From the Yuuzhan Vong in Legends to Emperor Palpatine himself, Star Wars is full of some of the most iconic fictional villains. There is one horrifying alien race, however, that was quietly brought back into canon in 2015, and it could have big implications for future Star Wars projects.

The Anzati were first introduced in Legends as a vampiric race. They are humanoids with grayish skin who appear almost entirely human except for two long, thin proboscises that curl up into hidden seams on either side of their nose. When their proboscises are curled up, they are nearly indistinguishable from humans. However, these creatures are anything but. They live for an incredibly long time, sometimes over 950 years. They are also stronger than the average human. They have a connection to the Force that grants them telepathic powers, which they use for a dark purpose that is the secret to their incredible lifespans.

How To Watch Star Wars Movies In Order

Here is how to watch all Star Wars movies and TV shows chronologically and in order of release, and how each fits into the Star Wars timeline.

The Anzati Use The Force To Prey On Other Species

Anzati

The Anzati eat what they call the “soup” of other beings – their disturbing name for a person’s life force. In most species, the “soup” is contained in the brain. They use their telepathic Force ability to hypnotize their victims. They then roll out their proboscises and stick them up their victim’s nose to suck out the brain. The Anzati are strong enough to prey on Jedi. These horrific creatures need to feed multiple times a day, so they leave many dead bodies in their wake wherever they go. When they feed, they become stronger. It’s essentially a biological version of Palpatine’s Force Drain.

Star Wars Canon Confirms The Anzati Exist… But Has Yet To Show Them

The Anzanti have been shown in canon twice. The first was in the 2015 Star Wars Chrome Perspectives trading card set. The second was a year later in De Agnostini’s Star Wars Helmet Collection magazine series, issue 3, where there is a picture of an Anzat attacking Jedi Aayla Secura – an image lifted straight from Legends, where a fallen Jedi Anzati attacked her. While the Anzati have yet to be included in any canon media beyond that, the fact of their existence has been officially confirmed.

The Anzati being brought back into canon could have big implications for future Star Wars movies, books, and TV shows. Considering that the Anzati come from the Mid Rim, it is entirely possible that they could make an appearance. In fact, it is surprising that they haven’t appeared yet since they live well within the bounds of the New Republic. If Star Wars decides to include the Anzanti in future projects, they could pose a real challenge for Jedi and non-Jedi alike. Their powerful, bone-chilling presence would be a great way to raise the stakes of any new movies or TV shows, especially ones set after the death of Palpatine.
