Star Trek: Prodigy Midseason Trailer Addresses Show’s Gwyn Cliffhanger

The midseason trailer for Star Trek: Prodigy reveals that Gwyn’s cliffhanger ending will be addressed. The series, which was created by Kevin & Dan Hageman for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon in 2021, is currently partway through season 1. Prodigy follows a team of kids on the Tars Lamora prison colony who discover the Starfleet ship USS Protostar has been abandoned. They steal the ship and the 17-year-old Dal R’El (Brett Gray) becomes their captain. The show also stars Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Angus Imrie as Zero, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, and Kate Mulgrew reprising her role as Star Trek: Voyager‘s Kathryn Janeway.

In the final episode of the first part of season 1, which aired on February 3, Gwyn learned of the secret mission of The Diviner (John Noble), who plans to use a computer virus on the Protostar to take down Starfleet. It becomes necessary for Zero, who is a Medusan, to reveal their true form to The Diviner, driving the villain to madness. Unfortunately, Gwyn catches a glimpse of the reflection of her friend, which causes her to forget what she has just learned about The Diviner’s plot.

Today, during a special Star Trek presentation at New York Comic Con, Paramount+ unveiled a midseason trailer for Star Trek: Prodigy season 1. The trailer for the next part of the series, which premieres on October 27, kicks off with the young heroes sharing their dream of joining Starfleet as they draw ever nearer to finding a place where they can belong. Along the way, Gwyn’s memory lapse creates a huge problem as they may unwittingly be carrying the means to destroy Starfleet, but by the end of the trailer she suddenly announces that “I remember everything.” Check out the video below:

What’s Coming Next on Star Trek: Prodigy

This trailer reveals just a sliver of what big developments fans can expect from the upcoming episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy. In addition to what was teased here, the series will also be gaining another Star Trek alum, Ronny Cox, reprising his role as The Next Generation‘s Edward Jellico, who has now been promoted to Admiral. How he figures into the overall plot is currently unknown.

Clearly, one of the remaining ten episodes will see the Star Trek: Prodigy crew learn that the ship they’ve been taking joyrides in is incredibly dangerous. Despite their good intentions with the Protostar, they will have to face facts about the weapon they are harboring. With Vice Admiral Janeway on their tail, they are en route to the biggest conflict the show has seen so far.
