Star Trek: Prodigy Confirms Borg, Klingons & Romulans In Season 1 Part 2

Star Trek: Prodigy teases the introduction of Borg, Klingons and Romulans ahead of season 1 part 2’s premiere. The first series in the Star Trek franchise to target younger audiences, Star Trek: Prodigy debuted on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ in late 2021. Created by Kevin and Dan Hageman, the animated series chronicles a group of aliens on the Tars Lamora prison colony after they happen upon the abandoned starship, the USS Protostar. The kids decide to steal the ship and begin their journey from the Delta Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant under the leadership of 17-year-old Captain Dal R’El (Brett Gray).

Part 1 of Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 featured a variety of alien species, including central protagonist 17-year-old Gwyn (Ella Purnell) who is of the Vau N’Akat race and whose dad is the ruthless tyrant, the Diviner (John Noble). Prodigy also features Tellarite Jankom Pog (Jason Mantzoukas) and Brikar Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui). The season 1 part 1 finale ended on a major cliffhanger, as Gwyn learned of her father’s plan to destroy every ship in Starfleet, only to have her memory erased by catching a glimpse of Medusian Zero (Angus Imrie). In addition, another ship, the USS Dauntless, is tracking the Protostar down. Now, new information about Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 part 2 reveals trouble ahead for the crew of Protostar that’s even bigger than what they’re currently facing.

While in attendance at the panel for Star Trek: Prodigy at New York Comic Con, Screen Rant learned that season 1 part 2 will introduce new species to the series. The Borg, Klingons, and Romulans are all confirmed to be included. However, the details about their role in the series are being kept under wraps.

How Can These Species Factor Into The Rest Of Season 1?

With Vice Admiral Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) creeping closer to the Protostar, explosive weapons stored on the ship, and Gwyn losing memory of her father’s villainous plan, it’s clear the crew already have a host of problems to deal with. The first episode will need to address these issues, but it seems a solution will be found quickly if Borg, Klingons and Romulans are involved later on. The Borg in particular are a major reoccurring antagonists of the Star Trek universe, and they will certainly be a big challenge for this young crew. However, a visit from an enemy like the Borg could be a good thing if they target Janeway on USS Dauntless before she reaches the Protostar.

The inclusion of Klingons and Romulans in the next installment of Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 could also spell trouble. Both Klingons and Romulans have played the villain role before in Star Trek, and it’s possible they’ll play a similar role here. However, it’s also possible they could come to the Protostar‘s aide seeing as they’re likely to need a lot of help as season 1 continues. Whatever comes of Borg, Klingons, and Romulans arriving on Star Trek: Prodigy, the next chapter in the Protostar‘s adventure begins on October 27, 2022.
