Spy x Family Shocks Fans With Unexpected But Heartwarming Anya Confession

Spy x Family is all about keeping secrets and Anya may have just confessed her biggest one to none other than Damian. The latest chapter has shocked fans with an unexpected yet heartwarming confession from Anya as she finally admits to her powers in the cutest way possible.

In mission #96 of Spy x Family, Anya admits that she can read peoples’ minds as she dances with Damian. In the chapter, Damian’s friends conduct a series of tests to determine who among the girls is worthy of dancing with Damian at the Gala. Anya surprisingly manages to pass each test through her own weird aptitude for some of the tests and a little help from Loid (who is disguised as a waiter) for the rest of the tasks.

Finally, Anya uses her mind-reading powers to answer a series of questions, including a very specific question about Damian by reading his friend’s mind. This surprises Damian and compels him to ask if Anya can read minds, to which she agrees without hesitation. This is the first instance of Anya revealing her secret ability, which is usually kept under tight wraps. Although Damian does not believe her, it is astonishing to see that Damian is the first person Anya has chosen to confide in, hinting at their blossoming friendship.

Anya Reveals Her Psychic Powers for the First Time in Spy x Family

Much like Loid and Yor who foster secrets of their own, Anya too has hidden her powers thus far, not daring to reveal them even in the most threatening situations. Even in mission #94, when a killer on the loose threatened the Forger family during a ski trip, Anya chose to simply lead Loid in the right direction instead of revealing the killer’s identity and her secret.

Anya mainly keeps her powers a secret because she fears being alienated because of her unconventional ability. She had been in and out of the orphanage many times and had jumped from family to family as they each kept abandoning her because of her peculiarities before Loid took her in. Anya fears the same with the Forger family, more so now that she has taken a liking to them. Thus, Loid and Yor are likely the last people Anya would reveal her powers to, even if she need not fear doing so.

This May Be the Beginning of Anya and Damian’s Friendship

Although Anya has tried desperately to befriend Damian for the sake of Operation Strix, it is safe to say that their friendship has had a rocky start and has not gone according to any of Anya’s naive plans. That said, the latest chapter could mark a turning point in their relationship as Anya displays great trust in Damian by revealing her biggest secret to him without missing a single beat.

Anya and Damian also share another touching moment during the final round of questioning when Anya correctly answers that the person Damian loves most is in fact his father. The best part about Anya’s answer is that it doesn’t seem like she has used her telepathy to read anybody’s mind but simply answered based on what she knew about Damian.

Nonetheless, fans of Spy x Family have been rooting for Damian and Anya for quite some time and while Anya’s confession suggests they may finally be on the path towards friendship, Damian’s tsundere personality likely means this path will be a long, winding one. All that remains is for the series to explore the origins of Anya’s powers, which will hopefully be revealed in due time as well.
