SpongeBob SquarePants: 10 Worst Things Mr. Krabs Has Ever Done

SpongeBob SquarePants: 10 Worst Things Mr. Krabs Has Ever Done

The Krusty Krab is one of the cornerstones in the life of SpongeBob SquarePants. Getting a job there as a fry cook made him happier than almost anything else in his ridiculous life. No one has ever experienced the level of joy from flipping burgers the way he has.

But for the owner of the Krusty Krab, it’s a much different experience. Eugene Krabs is SpongeBob’s boss, and an impressively greedy one at that. His quest for profit has caused him to do some surprisingly nasty things. While Mr. Krabs is a good man, he does make some bad decisions.

Number One Hat

SpongeBob SquarePants: 10 Worst Things Mr. Krabs Has Ever Done

The greed of Mr. Krabs isn’t just his defining trait, it’s the stuff of legend in Bikini Bottom. After scamming a bunch of people at his terrible yard sale, Krabs sold SpongeBob an overpriced novelty drinking hat with “#1” on it. A collector then told him it was worth a lot of money. When he tried to get the hat back, SpongeBob informed Krabs he returned it to its original owner, who was dead. Naturally, Krabs headed for the graveyard and dug up the remains of the fish SpongeBob erroneously put the hat with.

Terrorized Plankton

There is no bad blood in Bikini Bottom that runs deeper than what’s between Mr. Krabs and Plankton. As the owner of the Chum Bucket, the fast food joint that sells inedible dishes across from the Krusty Krab, Plankton has always been incredibly jealous of Krab’s success. He’s constantly trying to steal the secret Krabby Patty formula.

That doesn’t make what Eugene generally has does to Plankton okay. While he was always looking for ways to torment Plankton, his best/worst work was dressing up as his own daughter, a whale named Pearl. Disguising himself as Plankton’s natural predator scared the little guy more than anything else ever could.

Sent SpongeBob To Spy On Pearl’s Party

When Pearl wanted to have a sleepover with her friends at her house, Mr. Krabs got nervous. While he inevitably relented, he still didn’t fully trust her. Krabs convinced SpongeBob to put on a disguise and go to the party as a young lady named Girly Teengirl, which might be the best cover name of all time. Krabs trusted his own daughter so little that he sent his employee to spy on her. He did eventually get his comeuppance, though it was still a pretty rotten thing to do

Krabby Land

Being the greediest business crab around means constantly coming up with new ideas for making money. After seeing kids respond to a new playground, Krabs realized how much money there was to be made and Krabby Land was born.

The only problem was that every attraction was created from free garbage Mr. Krabs found lying around. This included Fort Adventure, which should not be confused with the Fort Adventure Homer Simpson dreamed of building from used mattresses.

Promoted Squidward Over SpongeBob

In the first SpongeBob movie, Mr. Krabs opened up a second Krusty Krab location to meet the high demand for his products. It was located directly beside the first location, kind of like Starbucks. Realizing that he needed more help, Krabs decided to promote one of his employees to be the new Manager. Surprisingly, Krabs went with Squidward over SpongeBob. While Squidward had been with Krabs longer, SpongeBob was more energetic, more engaged and did not actively trash talk the business to customers.

Sold Jellyfish Jelly

Another of Krabs’ money making ideas involved jellyfish, SpongeBob’s favorite little buddies. When Krabs realized that jellyfish jelly was incredibly tasty and valuable, he sent SpongeBob out to do some jellyfishing. It didn’t take much convincing as jellyfishing was one of his main hobbies.

What Krabs didn’t tell SpongeBob was that he was keeping the jellyfish in dire conditions and was essentially torturing them. SpongeBob rescued them in the end, of course.

Stole His Own Secret Ingredient

Running out of the secret Krabby Patty ingredient is a big deal for two reasons. First, it throws the whole cooking process into chaos. The second problem is preventing someone such as Plankton from stealing it. Krab put SpongeBob in charge of protecting one shipment, only to have it stolen. As it turned out, it was Krabs who stole the secret ingredient to avoid paying the delivery charge. While trying to pass the blame, Krabs actually attempted to frame SpongeBob. Fortunately, he was thwarted and was forced to giveaway free Krabby Patties for an entire day by a judge.

Sold SpongeBob’s Soul For 62 cents

Never one to pass up a buck, Mr. Krabs insisted that a rancid old patty was still edible and he ate it to prove that it was. This naturally ended up with him at death’s door and a visit from the Flying Dutchman. When trying to negotiate his release, SpongeBob tried to convince the Dutchman that Krabs was not as greedy as he thought.

He bet the Dutchman that Krabs wouldn’t sell SpongeBob’s soul for all the money in the Dutchman’s pocket. That amount was $0.62 and Krabs gleefully traded it for SpongeBob, though he later recanted.

Lost SpongeBob to Plankton

There are two keys to Mr. Krab’s success, the secret ingredient and SpongeBob. As such, if came as quite a shock to Mr. SquarePants when Krabs gambled him away in a card game. Krabs and Plankton had been playing a weekly card game every Thursday night for 15 years. While Krabs thought Plankton was terrible, it turned out Plankton had been hustling him the entire time. He finally got Krabs to gamble something of value and briefly won SpongeBob.

Trying To Kill Squidward

Squidward has always fancied himself a creative type. Art. Dancing. Music. He’s absolutely terrible at all of these things, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. After attempting to sell some of his terrible art at the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs realized that the art will be worth more when Squidward dies. So he sent Squidward on deliveries to Antarctica, Rock Bottom and Mars. Squidward survived so Krabs went low tech and tried to bash his employee’s head in with a mallet.
