Spider-Man’s Evil Clone Has Unleashed A Demonic Sinister Six

Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Amazing Spider-Man #17

In a new preview for Amazing Spider-Man, the latest tie-in to Marvel’s Dark Web event sees Peter Parker’s evil clone Chasm unleashing his very own version of the Sinister Six. Having united with Madelyne Pryor’s Goblin Queen to start a demonic takeover of New York, Ben Reilly’s true endgame is to torment Spider-Man before stealing his soul, thereby getting Peter’s memories which Ben had but recently lost.

In the new Amazing Spider-Man #17 from Zeb Wells and Ed McGuinness, Chasm has sent Spider-Man to Limbo, Marvel’s version of Hell ruled by Pryor, herself a disenfranchised clone of the X-Men’s Jean Grey. Peter is also joined by J. Jonah Jameson and Robbie Robertson. Meanwhile, the Goblin Queen makes sure that the horde of demons she’s given Chasm is only a loan, though Ben Reilly can’t help but be excited by his newest creation to break the Webslinger: The Insidious Six. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

Spider-Man’s Evil Clone Chasm Debuts His Own Sinister Six

  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #17
  • Round One is over! Peter Parker finds himself trapped in Limbo. Peter not only has to find his way back home, but he has to do it in a truly hellish fashion. And who is shadowing him?
  • LEGACY #911 | DARK WEB TIE-IN

Known as Doctor Octoball, the Grave Goblin, Rhiceratops, Kraken the Hunter, Lizarro, and the Gorepion, each of these demons has been modeled after some of Spider-Man’s greatest foes. As such, they’re a truly disturbing counterpart to the classic Sinister Six team of rogues who will no doubt make Spider-Man’s attempts to escape Limbo even harder. Likewise, the synopsis does tease that Spider-Man’s means to escape will be pretty dark.

Additionally, the tease that someone will be following Peter in the full issue makes a lot of sense. After all, previous chapters of Dark Web have confirmed that Ms. Marvel, the X-Men, Black Cat, and even a super-powered Mary Jane Watson have all come to Limbo as well. Spider-Man likely won’t be on his own for very long, a rather good thing considering the debut of the Insidious Six.

At any rate, it’s clear that Spider-Man’s reckoning with Chasm has only just begun. Both Spiders are bringing in even more allies to the fight as Dark Web continues, and it’s going to get even crazier in the issue to come. The full Amazing Spider-Man #17 is on sale on January 11th from Marvel Comics.
