Spider-Man Writer Shoots Down The MCU’s Post-Endgame Backlash

Spider-Man Writer Shoots Down The MCU’s Post-Endgame Backlash

A Spider-Man comic book writer has some words about the backlash the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been receiving after Avengers: Endgame. The MCU is not the same after the end of the Infinity Saga, with multiple important characters either dying or retiring. New heroes have begun to appear, taking over for the characters that have left or setting the stage for future departures. Many fans have been unhappy with the MCU’s changes, but that does not mean that they are necessarily bad.

On Twitter, Spider-Man comic book writer Dan Slott shot down the post-Avengers: Endgame MCU backlash.

According to Slott, some of his favorite MCU projects, like Werewolf By Night and Spider-Man: No Way Home, have come out after Avengers: Endgame‘s release. Slott thinks that MCU fans should focus more on what they love than what they hate, and while Slott kept the examples turned to his perspective, the writer has got a point that several popular, highly-reviewed MCU movies and shows have come out after Avengers: Endgame.

How MCU’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Prove That Post-Endgame Releases Are Just As Good

As the most popular review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes‘ score for MCU movies, shows, and Special Presentations released after Avengers: Endgame proves that Marvel has kept a similar level since the latest Avengers film hit theaters. While it is hard to reach Avengers: Endgame‘s 94 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, some movies that have been released after the film have managed to get close to the mark, and shows have even matched or surpassed it.

On the movie side, Spider-Man: No Way Home reached 93 percent with critics and a stunning 98 percent score with audiences, making it the best-reviewed MCU entry by fans, tied with another post-Avengers: Endgame release: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The movie starring Simu Liu managed to tie with the multiversal event that brought in Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s versions of Spider-Man together, while standing a step below the film and Avengers: Endgame with critics, as the movie came in with a 93 percent critics score.

With Disney+, Marvel has explored different formats for the MCU, and while some shows have had pacing and story problems, there have been several entries with great reviews. Ms. Marvel stands tall with the highest critics score for any MCU project, with 98 percent. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special tied Avengers: Endgame with a 94 percent critics score. The MCU’s first foray into animation, What If…?, also scored 94 percent with critics. With multiple projects surpassing, tying, or ranking just below Avengers: Endgame, the MCU is not in as much trouble as some make it seem.
