Two of Marvel’s most notable clones have joined forces for the upcoming Dark Web crossover, and Spider-Man and the X-Men have no idea what’s coming. Thanks to Ben Reilly’s dark corruption into the new villain Chasm, Spider-Man’s clone is seeking some major retribution against Peter Parker. He’s also joining forces with another evil clone in the Marvel Universe: Madelyne Pryor’s Goblin Queen.
Following the Spider-Man Beyond storyline, Ben Reilly’s memories were manipulated by the Beyond Corporation to make him more compliant as their sponsored Spider-Man. However, the memories were compromised and many were lost being fragile copies of Peter Parker’s. Additionally, Ben was led to believe Peter was at fault and refused to restore the memories, a belief that darkly corrupted Reilly especially after he fell into a pool of psychoactive goo, resulting in his transformation into Chasm.

Now, the new Amazing Spider-Man #14 from Zeb Wells and a collection of artists reveals that Chasm has allied himself with Madelyne Pryor, the clone of the X-Men’s Jean Grey who also feels slighted toward her genetic host. Having become the Goblin Queen of Limbo, Madelyne grants Chasm her supernatural army and a means to steal Peter’s soul in exchange for his help against the X-Men. She also transforms Ben’s girlfriend Janine into the new villain Hallow’s Eve.
Chasm and the Goblin Queen Begin Marvel’s Dark Web
Furthermore, promotions for Dark Web have teased that Chasm and Pryor will be striking a deal with Venom who’s desperately been trying to reunite with his son Dylan. All in all, Chasm and the Goblin Queen now look ready to initiate their sinister plans as Dark Web is finally ready to begin. As such, Chasm’s arrival with an entire army seeking revenge will certainly be a surprise for Spider-Man, seeing as how Ben’s final fate after falling into the corruptive goo was a mystery for Peter.
Likewise, the X-Men are bound to be caught off-guard by Madelyne Pryor as well, especially after Magik granted her control of Limbo as a sort of peace offering. In any case, a team-up between Spider-Man and the X-Men will be crucial in the face of this sinister alliance when Dark Web begins on December 7th.
