Spider-Man Spinoff Villain Actor Spoils Key Details About Kraven Movie

Kraven the Hunter star Alessandro Nivola has spoiled key details on the movie in a recent interview. The latest film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will see the origins of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as one of Spider-Man’s most popular antagonists, who has appeared multiple times in comics, video games, and animated series, but never in a live-action feature film. The character will confront a plethora of other villains, which include The Foreigner (Christopher Abbott), Calypso (Ariana DeBose), and Chameleon (Fred Hechinger).

Kraven will also be meeting a yet-to-be-disclosed villain, who is played by Face/Off and The Many Saints of Newark actor Alessandro Nivola. Not much is currently known about the character, other than that he will be the main antagonist of the movie. The other characters mentioned above may also act as antagonists to Kraven, but will not be the primary villains of Sony’s latest installment in their Spider-Man universe, after Morbius threw multiversal rules out the window.

However, Nivola has since the beans by revealing key details on who his character is in a recent interview with THR while promoting the movie Spin Me Round. In the interview, Nivola explains that his character isn’t a CGI villain until the very end of the movie, where his full transformation is revealed. He has also mentioned that the movie will contain a time jump and will show how the character evolves from the beginning of the film to that point in time. Check out what he has to say about his character below:

It’s just a great character part, and I didn’t have to do any CGI. I didn’t have to do any green screen. I only transform, physically, in the final moments of the movie, so it’s just a classic villain role.

It had a really interesting, complex psychology and personal history to draw on, and the movie has a time jump in it, so the character changes a lot from the way he is at the beginning of the film. It was as much of an acting opportunity as any other film I’ve done, and I didn’t have to contend with wearing a spandex outfit or anything like that.

If Nivola’s character transforms himself in the film’s final moments, that could mean that his character will be set up as an antagonist in his full form in a later movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The aforementioned “final moments” could even be the film’s post-credit scene since Sony is following Marvel’s cue on this technique. Nivola’s role could be expanded upon in a future movie; however, if Kraven the Hunter performs anything like Morbius did, he may not return at all.

It’s hard to figure out exactly who Nivola is playing when other actors have already been confirmed to play established Marvel villains in the movie. It’s especially harder to figure it out when Nivola mentions a “transformation” that occurs in the film’s final moments, which could mean so many different things. Still, maybe the character is such a big deal that Sony is currently trying to hide who he actually is until the movie releases and audiences see for themselves. If that is the case, then Kraven the Hunter could be Sony’s most exciting Marvel project, particularly with such a star-studded cast and director J.C. Chandor at the helm.
