Spider-Man: Miles Morales Glitch Turns Spidey’s Suit Completely White

2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is known for sporting some stylish alternate costumes, and a recently-discovered glitch adds to this wardrobe by accidentally turning his suit completely white. While Insomniac’s open-world Spider-Man games are incredibly well-crafted, both of them have seen their fair share of bugs and glitches. 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man seems to have the lion’s share of these bizarre technical hiccups, but Spider-Man: Miles Morales bugs and glitches have seen the titular hero be transformed into various everyday objects like a car, a street lamp, and even a flying brick. One Miles Morales glitch even has the young web-slinger abandon his costume altogether and wander the streets of Harlem in his civilian outfit, but doing this locks him out of the rest of the game’s storyline.

This isn’t to say that Miles doesn’t have a neat variety of official alternative looks, as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales followed its predecessor in providing several alternate costumes for players to wear while taking down crime. These range from multiple classic attires pulled from the comics to brand-new outfits like the Bodega Cat Suit, which allows Miles to battle alongside an adorable feline companion appropriately named “Spider-Man.” One of the most notable and interesting of these extra Spider-Man: Miles Morales costumes is the Programmable Matter Suit, which Miles obtains after helping the young journalist Danika Hart investigate a secret laboratory experimenting with programmable matter. Miles takes some of this new tech and integrates it into his suit, allowing him to summon Iron-Spider-like appendages during takedowns.

It turns out that this programmable matter can also give Spidey a stunningly blank appearance, at least in a Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales glitch discovered by Reddit user MORTIS77DEATH. They posted a video of this glitch in action to r/SpidermanPS4 (via GameRant), which starts with Miles activating his signature camouflage ability while wearing the Spider-Man Programmable Matter Suit. Everything seems normal enough until the effect wears off in the middle of a battle with Roxxon’s soldiers, as Miles’s suit re-emerges completely void of color and texture. This all-white attire reverts to the Programmable Matter’s gunmetal grey-and-neon red color scheme shortly after the fight is over, but its brief appearance was enough to leave an impression on the roughly two thousand Reddit users who upvoted MORTIS77DEATH. Many of these users have compared Miles’s new look to existing Marvel heroes like Moon Knight and Anti-Venom, while others have joked that it resembles a default Unreal Engine 4 character model.

Aside from glitches, players have spotted many fun and unusual details in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, such as Miles giving a surprisingly cheerful response to an ongoing hostage crisis while swinging above the streets of Harlem. Other fans have spotted interesting Easter egg references to other Marvel characters like the X-Men, as well as a hint that the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could see a change to New York City’s in-game layout. Even more have played around in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’s surprisingly in-depth photo mode to create fun visuals like a first-person view of an enemy about to be captured by Miles.

It’s still going to be quite some time before players step into Miles’s spider-themed mask once more, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t set to launch on PS5 until next year. In the meantime, excited fans are still swinging through Insomniac’s first two critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man titles and discovering new glitches – including Miles’s monochromatic new look. The all-white attire shown in MORTIS77DEATH’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales suit glitch video is a striking departure from Miles’s usual black-and-red color scheme, but it’s an interesting visual all the same.
