Spider-Man: Miles Morales Fan Art Highlights Criminally Adorable Spider-Cat

With Spider-Cat now being officially canon in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the adorable feline character received some well-deserved love on fan art. The furry crime fighter was revealed yesterday via a short gameplay video.

As part of Game Informer’s month-long coverage of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a gameplay video was shared by the media outlet highlighting one of the game’s side quests dedicated to rescuing a cat, which belonged to a local shop owner. While at first, it appeared that the mission would end up with Miles returning the adorable fluff back to its owner, the very last few seconds confirmed that the cat would be fighting crime alongside Harlem’s Spider-Man. Funnily, the pet is nicknamed after the web-swinging character with the owner referring to the real Spider-Man as “the other one.”

While it’s not quite clear how big the Spider-Cat’s role is in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, fans are already losing their minds over the charmingly sweet sidekick. A recent piece of fan art courtesy of popular digital artist BossLogic shows Spider-Cat in full glory with its tiny mask on and a spider – presumably a radioactive one – hanging down from its tail. The second piece of art is an altered Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ logo with a paw on top of the spider symbol. Unfortunately, the feline crime fighter does not possess any superpowers, which would’ve otherwise put it alongside Superman’s dog Krypto. That being said, there’s an actual superhero named Spider-Cat in Marvel comics, but this fictional animal has nothing in common with Miles’ adorable furry companion.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases in a month, and the game is already considered a highly anticipated project. Fans’ expectations go as far as believing that the title might turn out to be among the best ones in 2020, which isn’t surprising given how amazing the original Marvel’s Spider-Man game was. It’s not just about a new story in the established comics world, though. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is among the launch line-up of titles for PS5 taking advantage of the next-gen console’s powerful hardware and innovative features. That alone might considerably help the game to fulfill its potential and impress the gaming community with quality visuals.

It’s weird how Spider-Cat is drawing more attention than the actual Spider-Man in the upcoming video game, but the adorable mascot definitely deserves the acclaim it is currently winning. The only thing that might bother is the fact that the feline companion was revealed too soon. Arguably, it should’ve been kept a secret until Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ release day, which could’ve resulted in an even more exciting reception. Players love discovering things like that – and they hate spoilers; still, there’s hardly anyone heartless enough to hate the lovely feline crime fighter.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on PS5 and PS4 on November 12.
