Spider-Man: Far From Home Prelude Comic Coming in March

Spider-Man: Far From Home Prelude Comic Coming in March

Marvel has officially announced the first issue of a two-part prelude comic for Spider-Man: Far From Home among its issue solicitations for March 2019. The prelude comic will recap the plot of last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland’s first solo outing as super-powered high-schooler Peter Parker, in which he faced off against the villainous Vulture (Michael Keaton) and cut his teeth as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s youngest superhero.

These comic book tie-ins for MCU movies began with a comic book prequel to Iron Man and have accompanied every MCU movie since. While some of the tie-ins have offered extra scenes that flesh out the movies (such as more detailed reveals of how Scott Lang wound up in prison, and how Loki’s scepter ended up in Baron Von Strucker’s hands), more recent releases have mainly stuck to more straightforward adaptations.

The most recent comic book prelude released was Captain Marvel Prelude #1, with the second part set to arrive in January 2019. Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Far From Home Prelude #1, which will be written by Will Corona Pilgrim with art by Luca Maresca:

PETER PARKER has already fought with the AVENGERS, but now he faces his biggest challenge: HIGH SCHOOL! Having the proportionate strength and agility of a spider doesn’t help Peter fit in, but when a piece of alien CHITAURI technology falls into the wrong hands, his abilities just may be the only thing standing between New York City and annihilation! Well, that and the expert tutelage of one TONY STARK, A.K.A. IRON MAN! Get ready for this summer’s SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME with this adaptation of the smash-hit SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING!

Spider-Man: Far From Home Prelude Comic Coming in March

As you can probably tell from that synopsis, Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s prelude comic won’t be a new story but rather a comic book adaptation of one of the existing Marvel movies – in this case, Spider-Man: Homecoming. In turn, Homecoming‘s prelude comic was an adaptation of Spider-Man’s storyline in Captain America: Civil War, and barring a small expansion of the viral video where Spider-Man stops a speeding car, featured only scenes and dialogue from the movie.

So, don’t go expecting any Avengers: Endgame spoilers in Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s prelude comic (or in any of the movie’s trailers). That being said, for major MCU fans these prelude comics are fun to collect, and it can also be cool to see the movies’ biggest action scenes recreated on the page.
