A piece of Spider-Man fan art depicts Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Spideys as zombies. While the MCU has released over 20 movies in the last 13 years, Sony launched a successful Spider-Man franchise all the way back in 2002 with Sam Raimi and Maguire. The trilogy ended up being incredibly successful, becoming some of Sony’s highest-grossing films to date. Marc Webb’s movies starring Garfield as the teenage web-slinger weren’t as successful, which caused Sony to reboot with Holland and finally let Spider-Man join the MCU.
Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home performed very well critically and financially. The third Spider-Man film starring Holland was announced years ago, and even though the movie is releasing in December, Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trailer has yet to be released. The multiverse is all but confirmed for the sequel, with Doctor Strange confirmed to be making an appearance. The ending of Loki also saw the Sacred Timeline branching after Sylvie killed He Who Remains, which has only supported the reports that Maguire and Garfield will have cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With the trailer still not being released, fans have taken it upon themselves to imagine what the next movie in the Spider-Man franchise is going to look like. A piece of artwork from elilusionista.cl imagines the three versions of Peter Parker turning into flesh-eating zombies. Each post shows the finished art as well as the reference image the artist used to create the piece.
Zombies more than likely won’t make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home unless Mysterio conjures up Zombie Iron Man again, but there will be plenty of other threats for Spider-Man to face. Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are both confirmed to be returning as Doc Ock and Electro, respectively, which is a big reason why many think Disney isn’t being 100% truthful about Maguire and Garfield’s involvement. Even Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin was rumored to be the main villain in Spider-Man: No Way Home, however unlike Molina and Foxx, this casting has yet to be confirmed.
Marvel Zombies is a popular comic book series, but Disney has yet to produce a movie focused on the concept. That being said, the upcoming animated series on Disney+ What If…? will feature Captain America, Iron Man, and Hawkeye as zombies and even Holland’s Spider-Man as the Sorcer Supreme/zombie hunter. The odds of Disney making a movie dedicated to Marvel Zombies, especially with Holland and Maguire, seems fairly low. Still, story-wise, anything is possible now that the Sacred Timeline is fractured.
