Spider-Man 3: Charlie Cox’s Unexpected Schedule Change Stirs Up Cameo Rumors

A last-minute change in Daredevil actor Charlie Cox’s schedule has people convinced that he will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. With only several months away from hitting theaters, the Jon Watts film has yet to kick off its marketing campaign. Marvel Studios and Sony remain mum about the project, with no concrete indication whatsoever when the first trailer for the movie will drop.

Principal photography for Spider-Man: No Way Home has wrapped up earlier this year, after which, its official title and a couple of promo stills were released. Beyond that, however, no official Spider-Man: No Way Home information has been rolled out. But, images from Atlanta suggest that the blockbuster is back for mandatory reshoots. Not much is known about the additional work for the movie, and no actor has been spotted in the area thus far. That being said, the recent cancelation of Cox’s supposed appearance in Texas-based fan convention is further fanning the flames of rumors that he will indeed be in the highly anticipated project.

Taking it to its official Instagram page, Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio announced that “due to a last minute filming schedule change, Charlie Cox is no longer able to join us.” The post didn’t go in-depth with its explanation for the actor pulling out from the appearance, but assures that “if you sent in an item to SWAU for an autograph or still want to, he’s graciously agreed to make sure everything gets signed in the next few months once filming ends.” Checking Cox’s filmography, his only other project that’s waiting to be released is the TV show Kin which is already in post-production. But, many believe that the aforementioned filming commitment will be for Spider-Man: No Way Home instead given the timing of events.

In conjunction with speculation that Cox will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there have also been rumors it will be a live-action version of the SpiderVerse. Given that, previous incarnations of the web-slinging hero played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are allegedly appearing. Meanwhile, villains such Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin from Spider-Man are slated to return, as well. Alfred Molina’s confirmation that he will reprise his role as Doc Ock backs up these murmurs, which are further solidified by what went down in the season finale of Loki where the multiverse was unleashed.

Interestingly, however, Cox’s supposed appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home will only be as Matt Murdock. The actor played the role in the now-defunct Marvel/Netflix franchise which was originally assumed to be connected to the MCU. However, that turned out to not be the case. Nevertheless, with multiple realities now overlapping, it’s now possible for this cross-over to happen. Additionally, given Peter Parker’s predicament as being framed for the death of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), the young hero can sure use some help from a lawyer like Murdock.
