Spider-Man 2099 Cosplay Gives Miguel O’Hara A Symbiote Redesign The Comics Need

Spider-Man 2099 is a Marvel character who hails from a future where he’s constantly dealing with legacy versions of Peter Parker’s worst foes, with the Venom symbiote being one such villain Miguel O’Hara’s iteration of Spidey can’t seem to shake. And now, in a redesign of Spider-Man 2099’s iconic look, Miguel gets a dark symbiote makeover that doesn’t bode well for him or the heroes of Marvel’s sprawling 2099 universe but should easily make fans of the character happy!

A design posted on Instagram by @sincitydarkknight, the Spider-Man 2099 cosplayer featured, and Mark (@nycosplayer), the photographer and editor of the image, this photo is the direct result of a collaboration that only the cosplay community can create.

Also dressing as Bizarro and a few versions of Batman — including a Batman ’89 suit — @sincitydarkknight has teamed up with other prolific creators before, turning each new cosplay design of theirs into something truly special. Meanwhile, Mark has been on a creative tear as of late, uploading photos of cosplayers dressed as The Red Hood Who Laughs and even Venomized Miles Morales.

Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Man 2099 Gets A Symbiote Upgrade In New Cosplay

Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Man 2099 in Marvel Comics

Contending with the Venom symbiote in comics before — the original iteration of Venom 2099 was Kron Stone, the half-brother to Miguel — as well as Carnage’s 2099 symbiote more recently, Miguel is no stranger to taking on a member of the Klyntar race when he needs to, mimicking current-day Spider-Man’s constant struggle with the alien entity. And while there is another version of Venom 2099 kicking around this future universe, Miguel himself hasn’t succumbed to the symbiote’s wrath just yet, something @sincitydarkknight’s cosplay aims to rectify here.

Swapping Spider-Man 2099’s usual red and blue arachnid duds for a sleek set of grey and black spandex, @sincitydarkknight’s cosplay design shows fans what a live-action version of this futuristic hero should look like when tainted by Klyntar control. Photographed crouching low by Mark and then edited to look as if he’s stuck on the side of a skyscraper in the middle of Nueva York with symbiote tendrils forming around him, @sincitydarkknight gives fans a second photo to swipe to, one that shows the original look of his suit before it received the special effects treatment.

Spider-Man 2099 Cosplay Gives Miguel The Symbiote Redesign He Deserves

With a Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 series by Peter David and Roge Antonio just around the corner, fans of this particular version of Marvel’s Web-Head have a lot to look forward to, especially after seeing this awesome cosplay design courtesy of the creative mind of @sincitydarkknight and the photography skills of Mark (@nycosplayer). Miguel O’Hara has a lot to contend with being Spider-Man 2099, and it looks like trying not to fall to the corruptive influence of his very own symbiote being at the top of the list.
