In a jaw-dropping piece of Marvel Comics fan art, Spider-Gwen trades in her usual superhero outfit and embraces her dark side, as her Gwenom form comes to life in a piece that shows off the symbiote hero’ fantastic costume. On their Twitter account, artist @Paniny_01 shared their drawing of the Gwenom, which gives the Venom/Spider-Gwen hybrid a tremendous look, with color contrasts that make her costume pop like never before.
Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 has surpassed the original version of the character in terms of popularity and platform in the Marvel Universe, as Spider-Gwen has become a fan-favorite hero. Like Peter Parker in the main Earth-616 timeline, Spider-Gwen, created by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez, would bond with the Venom symbiote, turning the hero into her darker persona, Gwenom. The symbiote has re-emerged on multiple occasions, which has pushed Gwen to the edge. Most recently, Gwenom appeared in the King in Black event from Marvel Comics, where her symbiote was one of the few Knull couldn’t control like others since it wasn’t from his reality.
On their Twitter account, artist @Paniny_01 shared their fan art of the venomous Spider-Gwen. The drawing shows off everything that makes Gwenom one of the coolest versions of Gwen Stacy, as it keeps her black, white, and red color scheme, as the white details, such as her eyes and fringe on her hood pop against the red. However, the most exciting design choice made in the piece is how her tongue-like sash extending from her hood down the front of her contrasts with the red background. It makes for a really cool effect and makes Gwenom look even more badass.
@Paniny_01 also shared their process of making the Gwenom fan art, as a video shows how they plotted the design and made the extraordinary, dark version of Spider-Gwen come to life. It’s unfair that Spider-Gwen, who already has one of the best costumes in the Marvel Comics universe, gets such a stellar alternate look with Gwenom. Both her heroic and darker side are immediately eye-catching and show the versatility of the hero’s costume. The epic Spider-Gwen fan art shows why Marvel Comics keeps bringing her Gwenom side back, as it’s too cool of a design to not keep on using.
