Sorry Batman, [SPOILER] Just Proved They’re DC’s Ultimate Contingency Planner

Sorry Batman, [SPOILER] Just Proved They’re DC’s Ultimate Contingency Planner

Warning! Potential Spoilers for Titans #9! Batman may reign as the king of contingency plans, but there’s one supervillain who has recently showcased a level of paranoia and preparedness that rivals his–Amanda Waller. Waller has demonstrated herself as the ultimate contingency planner by bringing one of the DC Universe’s most powerful beings to heel with just the mere threat of enacting her plan.

In Titans #9 by Tom Taylor and Lucas Meyer, Waller once again proves she is the biggest bad in the DC Universe as she faces off against the devil himself, Trigon. Seeking assistance regarding his daughter Raven, Trigon approaches Amanda Waller, hoping she will eliminate the Titans so that Raven can pursue her dark destiny without interference.

Sorry Batman, [SPOILER] Just Proved They’re DC’s Ultimate Contingency Planner

Despite starting the meeting on seemingly amicable terms, Trigon eventually resorts to threats in an attempt to coerce Waller into helping him. However, she remains unfazed and reveals that she has methods for dealing with beings like him.

Amanda Waller Reveals She Has a Contingency Plan For the Devil Himself–TRIGON

When Waller queries Trigon about what she stands to gain if she helps him eliminate the Titans, the devil counters by offering to persuade Raven not to unleash destruction upon Earth. However, Waller remains unimpressed by this proposal. Trigon continues to attempt to strike a deal through threats while Waller remains unmoved. Eventually, he resorts to stating, “I can destroy you in a micro-second,” in a bid to intimidate Waller into compliance. However, she remains unfazed and even turns the tables, issuing her own warning that she has “prepared” for Trigon’s “kind” and thus possesses the means to handle him.

Initially, Trigon doubts Waller’s claim, but she emphasizes that she has faced some of the most powerful beings in the universe and is “still here.” This convinces Trigon that Waller may not be bluffing and likely has a contingency plan for him, leading him to agree to more amicable terms. Waller’s readiness to deal with Trigon demonstrates her prowess in contingency planning, rivaling Batman in this aspect. The fact that Batman hasn’t mentioned a contingency plan for Raven’s father, despite Nightwing frequently facing off against Trigon, suggests that Waller may possess a contingency plan that even Batman hasn’t considered.

As DC’s Absolute Power event looms on the horizon and with Waller a part of the Trinity of Evil, there’s no doubt that all the buildup surrounding her character will culminate in a major payoff, propelling her to the peak of villainy. The impending confrontation between DC’s heroes and the Trinity of Evil is bound to be particularly intriguing. This event will test the mettle of characters like Amanda Waller and Batman, pitting their contingency planning against each other and determining who truly holds the title of the most prepared character in the DCU.
