Sonic Frontiers Boasts The Most Content Of Any Sonic Game

Sonic Frontiers will have the most content ever included in a Sonic the Hedgehog title. Sega’s highly anticipated platformer’s release date of November 8 is drawing near, with fans still divided by the content seen in Sonic Frontiers’ first gameplay trailers. Although recent gameplay reveals and leaks have shown drastic improvements, only the release of the first open-world Sonic game will completely display all it has to offer.

When the first Sonic Frontiers gameplay clips were revealed, fans of the beloved franchise quickly pointed out the flaws they saw in the not fully developed platformer. The open world looked increasingly bare, and the iconically speedy Sonic was running through the empty land at an average speed. Many did point out that Frontiers was not even near to being finished, but others couldn’t get past the first impression of a Sonic game that didn’t seem much like Sonic at all. Recent Sonic Frontiers trailers are exciting, though, showing off an improved (but still large) environment that features Sonic’s equally iconic allies and teases the story about what Sonic is actually doing in Starfall Islands.

Sonic Frontiers is going to be the largest and most complex Sonic the Hedgehog title to date, according to Nintendo Everything. In an interview with Everyeye, Sonic Team creative officer Takashi Iizuka expressed that the Sonic Team “wanted to make sure that Starfall Islands were stimulating enough for the players.” Iizuka states that Starfall Islands will have plenty of mini-games, activities, and puzzles to keep players intrigued and busy throughout the unusually large Sonic the Hedgehog map. The creative officer did not reveal exactly how many levels there will be but said that Sonic Frontiers will take 20-30 hours to finish, and double that for completionists.

Sonic Frontiers’ Starfall Islands Features Nearly 60 Hours Worth Of Content

Previous Sonic Frontiers leaks have shown the minigames, as well as boss battles and beloved characters like Knuckles, Amy, and Tails. With so much promised content and content shown in leaks and trailers, fans are hoping that Frontiers‘ large open world won’t be as empty as it looked in the first gameplay reveals. Sonic Frontiers’ story is also notably darker than previous Sonic titles, marking what seems to be the evolution of Sega’s longtime beloved franchise.

While rescuing Sonic’s friends in a new large world full of strange threats, it’s currently unknown just how Sonic Frontiers will actually feel. Public opinion of the title has shifted, with fans more curious and excited than they were earlier this year. It helps that Sonic Frontiers‘ newly revealed theme song is captivating, and has fans ready to play as Sonic yet again.
