Hulu finally released its new animated series Solar Opposites, and the voice cast includes actors like Thomas Middleditch, Alfred Molina, and Tiffany Haddish. The new show from Ricky and Morty‘s co-creator Justin Roiland and writer/producer Mike McMahan brings a comedic sci-fi approach to another adult animated family sitcom.
Solar Opposites follows a family of four aliens who settle into a suburban neighborhood after their home planet, Shlorp, is destroyed. Forced to adjust to life on Earth as outsiders, the kids must learn to make friends, defend against school bullies, and fit in under their unfortunate and unusual circumstances. Meanwhile their parents spend their time fixing the ship that was damaged after their descent to Earth, while keeping control over the Pupa – a strange, but oddly cute yellow blob who is a living super computer with incredible potential to destroy the world.
While Solar Opposites is largely centered around the family of aliens, many familiar voices play other characters that appear throughout the series. From comedians to legendary actors, each episode seems to bring in a star-studded guest cast. Here’s a cast guide for the main Martian family of Solar Opposites and other characters in their world.
Justin Roiland as Korvo
Justin Roiland stars as Korvo, one of the adult aliens of the family. He despises Earth, and given his incredible scientific intelligence, his main goal is to fix the ship and leave the despised planet. Roiland is best known for his work on Adventure Time and Rick and Morty, the latter earning him a Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Animated Program. He has also voiced characters for Disney Channel in the series’ Fish Hooks and Gravity Falls.
Thomas Middleditch as Terry
Thomas Middleditch plays Terry, the other parent figure along with Korvo. Terry loves Earth and his naïve, party-driven attitude is opposite to that of Korvo. Middleditch has starred in several films, most notably The Wolf of Wall Street, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Zombieland: Double Tap. He also stars in the HBO comedy Silicon Valley as Richard Hendricks.
Mary Mack as Jesse
Mary Mack voices Jesse, one of the kids of the family and a replicant of Terry (the aliens reproduce by cutting off pieces of themselves and growing them in soil). Jesse is (mostly) gentle and innocent, finding joy in her new home on Earth and the fun that comes with it. Mack is best known as a comedian, making appearances on Conan and Last Call with Carson Daly. She has appeared in the independent films Twin Cities and Special Moments with Oksana.
Sean Giambrone as Yumyulack
Sean Giambrone plays Korvo’s replicant, Yumyulack, who shares opposite views about Earth to Hesse. He is spiteful and pessimistic, agreeing with Korvo that Earth is far from awesome. Giambrone is best known for his work as Adam Goldberg on the ABC comedy series The Goldbergs. He appeared in the television movie Kim Possible as Ron Stoppable and has voiced characters for Big Hero 6: The Series and Harley Quinn.
Solar Opposites Guest Voice Cast
- Andrew Daly as Tim – A man in a red shirt who is shrunken down and joins the population of the Wall. Daly also voices Two-Face in the current Harley Quinn animated series, voiced various characters in Bob’s Burgers and American Dad, and guest-starred in Veep.
- Alfred Molina as The Duke – The tyrannical ruler of the Wall. Molina is known for playing Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2, and is also known for his roles in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Boogie Knights and Chocolat.
- Tiffany Haddish as Computer – The spacecraft’s artificial intelligence system. The comedian is best known for her work in Night School, Girls Trip, and Keanu. She also stars in the TBS comedy The Last O.G.
- June Squibb as Ruth – An elderly woman who isn’t afraid to curse people out at a town hall meeting. The legendary actress has appeared in the films Nebraska, About Schmidt, and In & Out. She also appeared in the Showtime comedy Shameless.
- Tom Kenny as various characters, including Mr. Dutch, Wilkins Macawber and Ted Johnson. Kenny is a prolific voice actor best known for playing SpongeBob in Spongebob Squarepants. He also voiced the Ice King in Adventure Time and the Mayor in The Powerpuff Girls.
- Christina Hendricks as Cherie – One of the rebels fighting against the Duke inside the Wall. Hendricks is best known for playing Joan Harris in Mad Men, and has also starred in movies like Drive and The Neon Demon.
- Jason Mantzoukas as Vanbo – An annoying alien who ends up joining Terry and Korvo on Earth after a time travel mishap. Mantzoukas is known for his roles in The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
