Smile 2 Release Date Announced 1 Year After Hit Horror Movie’s Viral Release

The Smile sequel Smile 2 now has an official release date. The original movie, which followed an ER therapist (Sosie Bacon) who begins to be haunted by an entity that takes the form of various people smiling eerily, was the feature directorial debut of Parker Finn and premiered on September 30, 2022. Although it was originally slated to be a Paramount+ exclusive release, it was transferred to theaters and made a whopping $217.4 million off its $17 million budget, becoming the 20th highest-grossing movie of the year worldwide.

Per Variety, the Smile 2 release date has now been officially set for October 18, 2024. This news comes just slightly under a year after the original movie’s release. At the time of writing, only one other movie has been given an October 2024 release date. That would be Joker: Folie à Deux on October 4, at a far enough remove that it likely won’t give the horror sequel much box office competition.
