Smallville’s Lois Lane Erica Durance Returning For Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover

Smallville star Erica Durance will reprise the role of Lois Lane for the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Even Black Lightning will join the Arrowverse for this major event, which is set to unite the heroes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and  Batwoman.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will not only feature actors from The CW’s current slate of DC superhero shows, but will bring in many exciting guest stars as well, including Batman: The Animated Series’ Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne. There will also be several iterations of Superman involved. Supergirl‘s Tyler Hoechlin is scheduled to make an appearance and Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh will once again step into the Man of Steel’s red boots, this time as Kingdom Come Superman. Perhaps the most exciting revelation for fans is the recent announcement that Tom Welling will return to the role of Superman – though it’s unclear if he will don the iconic suit. Durance starred opposite Welling in Smallville, playing the Lois Lane to his Clark Kent from season 4 until the show ended in 2011. It appears the couple will reunite in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

According to TV Line, Durance will return as Lois Lane, guest-starring in multiple episodes of the five-part crossover event. Durance has previously appeared in the Arrowverse as Kara’s mother, Alura Zor-El, in Supergirl. She won’t be the only intrepid reporter onboard for Crisis, as Elizabeth Tulloch will once again be tackling the part of Lois Lane.

With its star-studded cast, Crisis on Infinite Earths is set to pack even more of a punch than past Arroverse crossovers. Apparently, there are even Marvel-like protections in place to keep spoilers to a minimum. The only thing that would make this Smallville reunion even more perfect would be if Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor was able to face Jon Cryer’s iteration of the Superman villain. Sadly, Rosenbaum previously debunked rumors that he would appear in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Unless something changes very soon, fans will have to live without that inevitably amazing scene.

With a seemingly unending stream of casting additions, Crisis is shaping up to be one epic crossover. It will be interesting to see how the writers handle the ever-expanding cast of characters. Giving all of these Arrowverse heroes the stories they deserve, not to mention granting enough time to all the guest stars, is going to be quite a juggling act. No matter what though, fans will see Smallville‘s Lois and Clark share the screen once again for the first time in close to a decade.
