New Sleeping Beauty cosplay is a perfect recreation of the Disney princess. Based on the 1697 fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault, Sleeping Beauty was adapted into an animated Disney movie in 1959 starring Mary Costa as the voice of Princess Aurora, also known as Briar Rose. The story revolves around the young princess who is cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent to fall into a deep sleep and can only be awakened by true love’s kiss.

The cosplay, which can be seen above, perfectly captures almost every aspect of Princess Aurora’s physical appearance, including her long flowing locks, elegant and ornate gown adorned with intricate details, and a tiara to symbolize her royal status.
Is Sleeping Beauty Due For A Live-Action Remake?
In recent years, Disney has been steadily reworking their back catalog of animated movies into updated, CGI-laden live-action remakes, the most recent of which is an updated adaptation of The Little Mermaid, with many more currently in development. The trend picked up pace with 2014’s Maleficent, a live-action retelling of Sleeping Beauty that portrays the story from the perspective of the eponymous antagonist played by Angelina Jolie. The movie was a massive success that actually received an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design, and a sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, was released in 2019 with a third film allegedly still in development.
However, Sleeping Beauty has yet to receive a more straightforward, live-action remake of the 1959 animated movie. It’s unclear why Disney is hesitant about making a live-action Sleeping Beauty remake, especially considering that Princess Aurora is just as iconic as any other Disney princess, including Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Belle, and Mulan, all of which have received or will be receiving live-action remakes. Sleeping Beauty has a captivating and timeless story that would be well-suited for a modern remake with many visual elements, including Princess Aurora as the new cosplay proves, that would be simply stunning in live-action.
