“Sith Happens”: Chilling Star Wars Cosplay Shows The Power Of The Dark Side

An amazing Star Wars cosplay celebrates the power of the dark side – and the Sith. Sworn enemies of the Jedi Order, the Sith were founded 5,000 years before the Skywalker saga began. As Palpatine himself observed, the dark side is the route to many Force powers often considered unnatural – Force powers that even allowed Palpatine to return from beyond the grave.

Cosplayer born2burn has shared an original Sith cosplay that truly shows the power of the dark side. While not a replication of any particular Sith Lord, this cosplayer clearly understood what makes a good Sith outfit. The all-black ensemble is a chilling example of what a Sith should look like, with blood-red lightsaber, white rope details reminiscent of a spider’s web, and a short black cloak.

Why Are The Sith Such Terrifying Villains?

Palpatine, Dooku, and Ventress

The Sith are terrifying because they are three-dimensional villains. They are power hungry, cruel, angry, and often have legitimate reasons to be angry at the Jedi. Count Dooku, for example, became disillusioned with the Order after he realized it was corrupt. The Sith often believe that they are doing good by controlling people. They believe they know exactly how the galaxy should be run and, if they could just rule, everyone would be better off. Because of this arrogance, the Sith are willing to do anything necessary to gain power. This is what makes them so terrifying. Despite outside appearances, they are often extremist idealists.

The dark side is, of course, inherently selfish. That means every Sith inevitably concludes the galaxy would be all the better if they were the ones in charge – whether for their own benefit, or for the supposed benefit of others. It also means they don’t care how much damage they do to the Star Wars galaxy to achieve their ends – which explains the destruction of entire planets and star-systems. Little wonder their very existence destroyed the balance of the Force.
