Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown’s Family Is Dysfunctional

Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown’s Family Is Dysfunctional

There is no denying that Sister Wives‘ Kody Brown is having one tough year. The patriarch recently shared that he feels his polygamous family is now dysfunctional and needs a reboot. Many viewers feel Kody has no one but himself to blame for his marital woes, but as usual, Kody isn’t seeing it that way.

A recent Sister Wives episode showed Kody in a bit more of a desperate light as he shared with viewers that he is struggling with his life post-divorce from Christine Brown. The difficulty of the adjustment has caught the father of 18 off guard. Kody shared with TLC viewers that his life is currently in “limbo,” noting he has been in an anger phase since Christine’s departure and has not been “addressing it very well.”

Even though Kody has the construction on Coyote Pass to look forward to, he finds that his mind still wanders to how he failed in his marriage to Christine. During the episode, Kody also shared that he is not doing okay, admitting he is living in a “delusional world” where Christine stays with the family. Along with feeling the family is dysfunctional, Kody also lives with regret over the state of his relationships with his older children.

Sister Wives viewers were not surprised to see Kody once again call into question the validity of plural marriage, including the religious aspect. For years, Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn sent the message to the world that there was such a thing as dysfunctional polygamy. Currently, Kody is on the outs with multiple children and is dealing with the backlash stemming from his treatment of his wives and the entire family.

None of the Sister Wives ever agreed to take part in a patriarchy, as Janelle noted she did not sign up for that. Kody seems to be going off the deep end as he tries to comfort himself through his grief. However, most would point out that Kody is the only one to blame since he didn’t make time for his children or really listen to Christine’s concerns. Kody is now left to pick up the pieces of his shattered family and try his best to hold onto his other three wives. Sister Wives viewers are waiting to see if any other spouses decide to leave Kody and feel that Janelle could be the next to go.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
