Sister Wives star Meri Brown has often been pushed into the shadows by Kody Brown, and now, it’s time to unpack a former statement made by her catfish. Recently. fans of the TLC show weren’t exactly surprised to learn that Kody and Meri had split up. The couple were married for 32 years, but didn’t seem to be in love anymore. For ages, Meri stuck by Kody’s side through so much drama, even when he didn’t support her.
Even though Meri worked to help bring in money for the family, nothing she did ever seemed to please the patriarch. It’s been a long time since she enjoyed the comforts of being the first wife in a Mormon relationship. Its clear that Kody fell out of love with the mother of one. So, it came as no surprise that Meri decided to have an emotional affair with a stranger she had met online. Unfortunately, Meri learned the hard way that her lover was a catfish – a woman pretending to be a young man. Meri became entangled in a six-month affair in March 2015, with someone allegedly named Sam Cooper. She believed that he was a business tycoon in his early 40s.
Meri’s Ex-Lover Speaks Out In Support
It did shock many Sister Wives fans when the very notorious Sam (whose real name is Jackie Overton) decided to release a statement regarding Meri’s separation announcement. Under the username @notbatmanyet, Jackie, who is still posting as her catfish alias, Sam, wrote, “Once upon a time we fell in love and were happy together. We laughed until we didn’t. I know she will find a new guy and be happy. Leave her alone.” Sam decided to share a few thoughts, since they were getting bombarded by requests for statements from numerous tabloids. The catfish hoped their Twitter statement would stop the onslaught.
Meri & Kody Are Through
Sister Wives fans knew that Meri’s online love affair was probably a scam, as she shared intimate details, noting that she had only ever seen half of Sam’s face. Sadly, Jackie has a long rap sheet, and is known for stirring up online mischief and conning. They used multiple accounts to lure victims in. When the sham relationship blew up in Meri and Jackie’s faces, the catfish leaked compromising photos of Meri, which included one of the TLC star kissing a banana, and showing off her legs in the bathtub. Meri was left to explain to Kody what had happened, but the patriarch never forgave his first wife.
Last week, Sister Wives fans were shocked to hear that Meri had finally chosen to leave Kody. The move came after a season which showed Kody telling the cameras that he wouldn’t care if Meri wanted to leave and marry someone else. She shared that the decision to end their marriage had been Kody’s, but he wanted ot keep the news a secret, for fear of public judgment. While there is no chance Sam/Jackie and Meri will ever reconnect, many are hoping the TLC star Meri finds a new love.
