Silent Hill 2 Remake Might Be Closer Than You Think

Silent Hill 2 Remake Might Be Closer Than You Think

The upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake might be closer than fans think, as developer Bloober Team has confirmed that the game has entered the final stages of production. The Silent Hill 2 remake reveal was made during the Silent Hill Transmission, alongside a number of other video game, movie, and multimedia projects, signifying the return of the long-dormant franchise.

The Silent Hill 2 remake appears to be a faithful adaptation, with the added benefit of the PS5’s hardware to power its incredible visuals. There have been rumors regarding the remake featuring new endings, but these have yet to be confirmed by Bloober Team or Konami. It’s difficult to play the original Silent Hill 2 on modern consoles, outside of the botched port in the Silent Hill HD Collection, so the remake will give fans the chance to play the game on modern systems. Silent Hill 2 prefers authenticity over new content, so fans should probably temper their expectations going in.

The Silent Hill Transmission revealed lots of Silent Hill projects, but the show wasn’t as forthcoming with release dates. It’s currently unknown when the Silent Hill 2 remake will launch, but it might not be as long as fans think. According to The Game Spoof (as spotted by Push Square), Bloober Team President Piotr Babeno revealed during GPW Innovation Day that Silent Hill 2 has entered the last stage of production and is being polished. The game has been in development since 2019, though it’s unknown how badly the pandemic may have affected its production.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Is Entering The Late Stages Of Production

Silent Hill 2 Remake Might Be Closer Than You Think

It’s unclear if the Silent Hill 2 remake will launch in 2023, as if it were that close, then it would have been announced during the Silent Hill Transmission. Companies generally have no problem announcing a release year/loose season for a game, such as Final Fantasy 16 coming in Summer 2023, as these kinds of dates receive less backlash when they’re pushed back. It’s possible that Silent Hill 2 remake could launch late in 2023, but it’s more likely to be a 2024 game.

Of all of the projects announced during the Silent Hill Transmission, the Silent Hill 2 remake seems to be the closest to completion. The only footage of Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill F were vague CG trailers that gave no indication of how they will look in motion, so it’s safe to assume that they won’t be arriving for a while. The Silent Hill franchise might be coming back, but fans will have to wait a little longer to return to the town, and Silent Hill 2‘s PS5 exclusivity means that Xbox gamers will have to wait even longer.
