Pre-orders are currently live on the Official Konami Shop for a Silent Hill Collector’s Edition Hoodie that will cost $99.99. Of course, Konami’s online storefront packs plenty of other items related to the horror franchise, including a “Welcome to Silent Hill” cap and deskmat, two other hoodies, as well as a shirt and pillow with Pyramid Head emblazoned across them.
To the chagrin of many a fan, this show of love for the seminal horror series is hardly reflected anywhere else. Konami hasn’t published a Silent Hill game since 2012, which featured releases of Silent Hill: Downpour, Silent Hill HD Collection, and PS Vita’s Silent Hill: Book of Memories. Hideo Kojima and his crew at Kojima Productions unveiled a new project, Silent Hills, via the P.T. demo on PlayStation 4 in 2014. However, his falling out with Konami culminated in both his exit from the company and Silent Hills‘ rather unceremonious cancellation. Though rumors about another entry in the series crop up every so often, Konami has yet to formally announce its future plans for the brand.
Fans can now pre-order a brand-new item on the Official Konami Shop – a Silent Hill Collector’s Edition Hoodie. The hoodie boasts a black and red color scheme, with black serving as the predominant color while red accents the overall design. Situated above the left breast is a line reading, “It’s gone now.” Meanwhile, the right sleeve is adorned with red lettering that says, “There was a HOLE here.” Similar red lettering covers the pockets, too, and a Pyramid Head logo overtakes the hoodie’s back. It’s awesome-looking merchandise, though the $100 price tag may put some fans off. While pre-orders are currently live, a ship date does not feature on the product listing.
All of the items on the Official Konami Shop are pretty pricey, especially when taking shipping costs into consideration. For instance, the aforementioned cap costs $30 and the t-shirts are priced at $40 apiece. Pillows boast $40 price tags, as well. Still, those on the hunt for quality Silent Hill merchandise may find something on the storefront worthwhile.
Originally released in 1999 on the PlayStation, the first Silent Hill installment proved a seminal horror experience for gaming at the time. In the 20-plus years since then, the brand as a whole has enjoyed more than its fair share of victories, though a few missteps have come and gone, too. The wait to see where Konami takes the series next continues to drag on.
