Shy Teen Joins A Ghost Band In Netflix’s Julie & the Phantoms Trailer

The Julie and the Phantoms TV Show trailer shows a teen trying to find her voice again after the death of her mother. Based on the Brazilian series, Julie e os Fantasmas, the upcoming Netflix series tells the story of a teenager, Julie (Madison Reyes) who has lost her passion for music. But things change after she is visited by the ghosts of three musicians from 1995. The series is set to be released on Netflix worldwide on September 10th.

In the Julie and the Phantoms trailer released by Netflix, newcomer Madison Reyes is introduced. The show also stars Charlie Gillespie, Owen Patrick Joyner and Jeremy Shada as the three ghosts who help Julie reclaim her musical space in the wake of her mom’s death. The four decide to start a band called Julie and the Phantoms, and according to the supernatural rules of the show, the band members are invisible to everyone except Julie except for when they are performing music. This results in Julie having to answer a lot of uncomfortable questions about her bandmates, and what appears to be a difficult romance with one of her ghostly band members.

The show is produced by Kenny Ortega, the director and choreographer known for popular tween and teen properties such as High School Musical and Descendants. Guest stars also include Cheyenne Jackson and Booboo Stewart. The musical series explores themes such as following your dreams, dealing with grief and growing up, set to a stunning soundtrack.

Even though it is seemingly aimed at a teenage audience, the themes are universal in that it will be appealing to audiences of all ages. Similarly to Netflix’s other teen content like Never Have I Ever and The Baby-Sitters Club, Julie and the Phantoms has a wholesome and intriguing concept that has no doubt piqued the interest of many to find out more.

Julie and the Phantoms premieres Thursday, September 10 on Netflix.
