Five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars: The Bad Batch may have just given a major hint about the fate of Lando Calrissian’s missing daughter. Although Star Wars movies and TV shows have yet to explore the story of Lando’s daughter, Kadara, who was kidnapped, one Star Wars book revealed Lando’s desperate search for her. Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith, written by Adam Christopher and set between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the Star Wars timeline, depicted Lando’s tireless pursuit. However, The Rise of Skywalker left Kadara’s fate unclear.

Now, The Bad Batch season 3 may have suggested what could have come of Kadara after all. Despite The Bad Batch season 3 timeline taking place decades before the period in which Shadow of the Sith is set, its main plotline has significant implications for Star Wars even into the sequel trilogy. Although just a theory at present, that very plotline may offer an explanation for Kadara’s disappearance.

The Bad Batch season 3 connects to multiple Star Wars movies and shows in some very exciting ways (including projects that have yet to be released).
Project Necromancer Tests On Force-Sensitive Children
The Bad Batch season 3 has gone into significant detail regarding Project Necromancer and Palpatine’s resurrection plan. Although first mentioned in The Mandalorian, Project Necromancer was not fully elucidated until The Bad Batch season 3 premiere, which revealed that Omega had been kidnapped by the Empire because they were attempting to increase the M-counts (or midi-chlorians) of clones. This experimentation was meant to ensure that Force-sensitive clones of Emperor Palpatine could be created, shoring up his imminent return in The Rise of Skywalker.
However, it seems Omega and the other clones were not the Empire’s only target of interest. Instead, recent episodes of The Bad Batch season 3 have indicated that Omega and Force-sensitive children are equally important to Project Necromancer. To create Force-sensitive clones, the cloning scientists discovered they needed both clone specimens and Force-sensitive specimens. Tragically, the Empire had therefore abducted multiple children identified as Force-sensitive and were holding them on Mount Tantiss, where Project Necromancer was being carried out.

Project Necromancer Is Still Active In The Mandalorian Era
Perhaps even more tragic, Project Necromancer and its abduction of Force-sensitive children did not end with The Bad Batch. Although The Bad Batch season 3, the show’s final season, only has a few episodes left, Star Wars has already demonstrated that the project continues beyond the Dark Times. In fact, this pursuit of Force-sensitive children for experiments is the driving force behind the introduction of Din Djarin and Grogu in The Mandalorian.

Throughout The Mandalorian, Din Djarin works diligently to protect Grogu from those attempting to kidnap him. However, this very effort is indicative of the prolonged efforts of the Empire and Emperor Palpatine’s lackeys to ensure that Palpatine could ultimately return. Specifically, Grogu, an exceptionally powerful Force-user, was being chased down for his blood. As it was clear in The Rise of Skywalker that Project Necromancer had not been perfected (because Palpatine’s body was severely decayed and strapped to a machine), Grogu was no doubt part of an ongoing effort.

It remains unclear why Lando Calrissian’s daughter Kadara was abducted, as Star Wars has not elucidated where Kadara went and what her fate was. However, The Rise of Skywalker nods toward the possibility that she was taken by the First Order and trained to become a stormtrooper. In The Force Awakens, Finn is introduced as a begrudging stormtrooper who becomes horrified by the violence of a mission that ends in the slaughter of an entire village. Over time, it is revealed that, rather than sign up for service as the original trilogy’s stormtroopers had, Finn was forced into this life.
The Rise of Skywalker built upon this story by revealing that Finn was not alone. The movie introduced Jannah, who was not only also an ex-stormtrooper who had been kidnapped as a child but also was part of an entire group of ex-stormtroopers with the same backstory. This plot point highlighted that the First Order’s abduction tactics were wide-reaching. In fact, kidnapped children seemingly made up the majority of the First Order’s stormtrooper ranks.
While this could be one explanation for Kadara’s disappearance, as that is what Lando seemingly believes, Project Necromancer could be one other significant possibility. While Lando has his assumptions about her fate, he would have had no way of knowing about Project Necromancer. Moreover, it would explain why Kadara was impossible to track down. While becoming a stormtrooper would have made her difficult to find, her abduction and confinement on Mount Tantiss would have made uncovering her location significantly more difficult.
Could Lando Have Had A Force-Sensitive Daughter?
The lingering and pivotal question regarding whether Kadara could have been taken not by the First Order to become a stormtrooper but rather by those carrying out Project Necromancer for experiments is whether she was Force-sensitive. Ultimately, neither Shadow of the Sith nor The Rise of Skywalker indicates if Kadara had the Force. However, that certainly doesn’t mean she is confirmed not to have been Force-sensitive. Moreover, there is every possibility that Lando Calrissian could have had a Force-sensitive child.
Although Lando did not have the Force and Force-sensitivity can be hereditary, it isn’t exclusively hereditary. There would be no reason Lando Calrissian’s daughter couldn’t have the Force. In fact, given Lando’s connection to major players such as Luke Skywalker, those who were continuing the work of Project Necromancer may have taken an even stronger interest in Lando and his daughter, perhaps uncovering something that Lando himself had not picked up on yet.
It remains to be seen whether Star Wars will ever reveal Kadara’s fate. However, The Rise of Skywalker suggested that may be coming, perhaps in Rey’s upcoming Star Wars movie, set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. In The Rise of Skywalker, Lando offered to assist Jannah in finding where she came from, which could relate to the search for his daughter. While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker didn’t reveal Kadara’s fate beyond that, Star Wars: The Bad Batch may have provided a hint that could be explored in future Star Wars projects.
Star Wars: Episode IX- The Rise of Skywalker
This is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and serves as the culmination of the Skywalker saga. The film sees Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac), and Finn (John Boyega) team up to put an end to the First Order after Palpatine mysteriously returns. Jurassic World helmsman Colin Trevorrow was originally named director back in 2015 when the film first entered development, but he parted ways with Lucasfilm due to creative differences over the script. In September 2017, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams signed on to finish what he started.
