Shin Godzilla Gets Monstrous Rendition In Wonderfully Detailed Art

Shin Godzilla is monstrously remade in highly-detailed new art. Produced by Toho, Shin Godzilla is a 2016 tale of the kaiju that saw Japan plunged into chaos after the appearance of the titular monster. Shin Godzilla was directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi.

Now, art by comic book writer and artist Tristan Jones shows an image of Shin Godzilla.

The art is a black-and-white illustration of the monster. With a dark, shadowy, top, Godzilla’s face looks threatening in the artwork. The art exclusively shows the monster, without the havoc he wreaks on Japanese cities in the film.

Following its 2016 release, Toho put out three animated versions of Godzilla, including Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, and Godzilla: The Planet Eater, which were released in 2017 and 2018. At the end of 2023, the production company put out Godzilla Minus One. Godzilla Minus One was a critical and commercial hit, holding a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Synchronous with Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Minus One, Hollywood has been developing a parallel cinematic universe, deemed the Monsterverse. The first of the 21st-century Monsterverse films included Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla in 2014. Since then, the series has received three additional films, including the King Kong-specific film Kong: Skull Island.
