Sherlock Holmes 2 has been rolling cameras for awhile now, and aside from a first look at stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Noomi Rapace, there hasn’t been all that much to get excited about.

Well… there was that one video of Downey Jr. as Holmes dressed in drag, but I digress…

While we wait to see more of Jared Harris as the nefarious Professor Moriarty, or an official Sherlock Holmes 2 trailer, there have been some casting rumors floating around that still need to be settled, one way or another. Today, thanks to StrasTV we now have probably the most major Sherlock Holmes 2 casting rumor that can now be put to bed.

Yes, that is Rahcel McAdams standing next to director Guy Ritchie on the set, seemingly in costume as her character Irene Adler. There have been a lot of questions flying around about whether or not McAdams would return for Sherlock Holmes 2 and I would think it’s safe to say at this point that she will be back in some capacity.

But will her role be a major one (the damsel in distress)? Will it be a brief cameo (to aid Holmes – or, perhaps, suffer a cruel fate)? And, most importantly, will we get to see Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams trade hard stares and cold smiles in a battle of wills? (Fingers crossed.)

Either way, it’s pretty sweet to know that Irene Adler and/or McAdams will be back. Those who didn’t care for her in the first film – hey, no worries, maybe she’ll end up dead in this one. Everybody happy.
